If you were disturbed by the first you'll be mortified by the second. Believe it or not there were criticisms of the first one with people saying it wasn't disturbing enough. Hence, we have this movie with only one focus and little other redeeming qualities.

For those who want a hint of what you may be in for before deciding....

sand paper assisted masturbatin, explosive excretion, laxatives, urination, ligament-cutting, graphic tooth-pulling, vomiting, anus-slicing, allusions to every bodily fluid you can imagine, baby birthing and then subsequent squashing/killing, and a barbed wire assisted rape scene of the centipede
The sequel is a far more accomplished film and the protagonist produces a superb performance. I think this is actually a redeeming film for the director given the obvious social commentary. There is a strong feeling of contempt for the audience and he's quite clearly giving you a metaphorical middle finger.

I'm a little torn about shooting the film in HD and then transferring it to black and white in post production. I think the black and white colour works for the film but it feels like a cheap attempt to create an auteuristic indie feel.

In Time - decent movie. starts off with a pretty interesting premise. However, dies a little with some of the supporting cast and the fluency between the two main actors, which seemed somewhat contrived.

Still a pretty decent all round movie, but had a lot more potential.

Which is exactly why I won't watch it and have no respect for the director.

As I said, there were criticisms of the first for not making full use of the centipede. As a result he's gone out of his way to make this one even more horrific as a "f**k you" to those critics.

Problem there is that you're giving a middle finger to the fans just so you can spite critics. A person who screws over their fans just so they can make a spiteful film is the last person who I'd waste time on.

It's for the same reason that I don't watch anything that is made by those Crank 1 & 2 goons.

Watched this the other day with a friend, very good movie. The whole idea around the movie is awesome.

I rate it a 8/10 merely because of its uniqueness.

the idea was great, just its execution was poor. like i said, i think the chemistry between some of the actors was pretty poor. other than that it was original and fresh

Doesn't In Time have a similar plot to Logan's Run?

I haven't seen either...but from what i've read they seem like they have the same premise.

Anyway, on topic.

Watched Warrior the other day. Pretty awesome. Tom Hardy is a beast. Can't wait to see what he does with Bane.

Each to their own I guess.

LMAO is it weird that I now find Amanda Seyfried kind of hot ? :?

Saw Immortals earlier. Not usually my thing, but I found the film to be okay. I guess because I'm not big on ancient mythology the main flaws/inaccuracies of the movie didn't bother me (or I wouldn't pick up on them if they weren't pointed out to me).

50/50 - An underdeveloped predictable dramedy about JGL dealing with a rare form of cancer with a questionable support network made up of Seth Rogen, Angela Houston and partner Bryce Dallas Howard among others. For all intents and purposes this is a solid movie and I enjoyed JGL's chemistry with Rogen but the film failed to make any significant impressions on me for the reasons I outlined earlier. 5/10

The Beaver - A family drama about a manic depressive father who is so disconnected from reality his only method of interaction is through a discarded Beaver puppet. The positive reception for this film caught my eye as I thought this was a ridiculous concept, a suspicion I should have stuck with. Gibson's performance of The Beaver was obnoxious and the way the film plays out is ridiculous and resembles a satire. The film also focuses on Gibson's oldest son, a loner who specialises in mimicking his peers and writing essays and speeches for them. The problem is this character is so boring and this sub-plot about him, his relationship with the popular girl and his fears of turning out like his father is so devoid of entertainment that it almost drags. Again, I'm being overly-critical, it isn't a terrible movie but there are too many issues here to even deserve a recommendation. 4/10 for me.

2011 has been a fairly terrible year for film with Moneyball sitting firmly at No. 1 with a generous 7/10 rating.

It was hardly a "unique" concept, the director already made a similar but much better executed movie in Gattaca. Replace time with DNA and you virtually have the same movie, but with far less cheese. As said earlier, it also has some pretty big similarities with logan's run which the island clearly got it's idea from as well.

It started out pretty decent, but some of the gaff's in it were just bizarre... ie having 2 hours to live when attending a night party, then being in broad daylight with no time added and 30 minutes on the clock? My favourite was when the military was shooting at the front of a car and they showed bullet sparks on the boot of the car.

It was enjoyable at times, but by the end you feel pretty cheated, the plot was paper thin cookie cutter stuff and there were plot holes everywhere. Plus olivia wilde got nowhere near enough screen time.

I thought it was a pretty solid movie, nothing outstanding but at least a 6.5. Gordon-Levitt fleshed out his role pretty well, the romance was pretty token and not very well though out though. It's certainly worth watching, but probably not at the cinema.

Great movie, which is something considering how much I loathe Jude Law check out Repo men as well if you like Gattacca perverse.

And avoid Equilibrium shithouse movie of the same vein.

it's an absolute travesty that the movie flunked at the box office imo, only recouped a third of its budget. I guess the deep and wonderful message of the movie doesn't appeal with the common person

definitely in my top 10 as well

Gattaca was more a thriller, equilibrium was an action movie. Equilibrium was enjoyable for what it was. Gattaca is one of my all time favourites, such a brilliant script and performances from all involved.

Repo men I couldn't really get into to be honest.
