I watche4d "Roadhouse" again earlier today.....a ,movie I'd watch on average twice a year. This time, it was a special edition dvd I bought from the US packed with extras.
For those who haven't seen it, watch it when you got an opportunity! One of those movies which the critics absolutely savaged yet has a cult following with quite a few people I know that love it. It is not "Citizen Kane" by any standards....but it is damn entertaining! Swayze, tits & ass, funny dialogue, great fight scenes, Sam Elliott....frikkin love it

I watched this movie called "The House That Jack Built" yesterday. It is about a serial killer thinking about his life and his past deeds. The lead is Matt Dillon who is absolutely superb in this.
The movie is quite a hike at around two and a half hours but in saying that, the first couple of hours are quite good. Creepy and weird but good.
The last half hour gets a bit too much for me. I have no idea where the filmmaker was taking the viewer at that point...extremely bizarre!

3 out of 5 despite the last 30 minutes.

Watched it a while ago and enjoyed.

Had a similar opinion of the last bit but over time it has grown on me

God damn horror movies used to be so amazing! Now they are just mostly gore porn rubbish (I sound like a grumpy old man I know) but apart from a quiet place I struggle to think of any horror movie in the last 10 years worth watching.

Recentish that I have liked from the last 10 years

It Follows
I Saw the Devil
We Need to Talk About Kevin (probably more Thriller)
The Invitation
Train to Busan
Raw
Girl with All the Gifts
Ready or Not (may be considered Thriller/comedy but greatly underappreciated)

Edit
Forgot Alive on Netflix which is an above average zombie survival.
Heard good things about His House and plan on giving it a go soon.

Midnight Sky. Meh.

Can't work out if Clooney is just a bad director or that desperate to come across as cerebral that he cocks up stories.

This had a lot of elements that could have made it very good, but overly long and just meh. Watchable, but plenty of other stuff around that is probably a better use of your time.

"The Conjuring" was very good. Definitely worth a watch.

Thanks I'll be sure to check some of those titles out if Girl with all the gifts is anything like girl on the train or girl with the dragon tattoo I'll absolutely love it!

Mulan (2020)
I originally thought these live action Disney movies would be amazing, especially when they started doing my favourite ones (Aladdin, Lion King) but they jest feel plain when compared to the animated ones. Even Mulan (1998) which I liked, is much more entertaining than this new version.
But, we’ll always have the originals.

A Long Way Down

Former TV presenter Martin Sharp plans to commit suicide by jumping off a building on NYE , he is interrupted by another person who has the same plan and eventually two other people with the same ideas also turn up, after much angst and to in and throwing they make a pact to at least not kill themselves till Valentines Day. Quite a black comedy with a few laughs but some heart break too. Main character Martin Sharp is played by Pierce Brosnan and i am of the opinion the guy just cant act, he was so wooden but two of the other leads Toni Collette and Imagen Poots were great, also a nice cameo from Sam Neill.

I watched this when it first came out and spent the whole time wondering if I'd actually seen it before as it seemed so familiar.

Then I clicked that I had actually read the book it was based on.

Also has Jesse from Breaking Bad IIRC?
