I agree, they are definitely not front and centre at the moment. The only club that we would really be putting outside of a league stronghold would be Perth and maybe South Island NZ (considering that they more union than league) It’s not like anybody is seriously suggesting we put another side in Melbourne for example which would be really equivalent to GWS
TBF if Storm had the support level of the Swans we might be.

So afl clubs get 3 million less than each nrl club ?

and yet the afls bottom line is 100 million worse off than the nrls ?

stop it that’s hilarious.

You’ve misread his post. They have reduced it by $13.5 million not to $13.5 million.

Maybe.

But then it would also depend on the spread of clubs we have and also where they are.

Also, I don’t know whether they are that far behind the Swans in terms of overall support

Certainly in attendance and membership they are a long way behind.
Thats true and is also a key factor why they went with the two expasnion clubs they did, they already have the main metro centre reach they wanted. We are still playing catch up on that hence why Brisbane2. They could have gone with Tassie and Canberra but they know they'd be paying just as much money to them without the long term potential benefits another Qlnd and Sydney club gives them. If they didnt have second clubs in Perth and Adelaide they would have gone there in all likelihood.

An equivalent $79 seat for origin in Sydney is selling for $249 in Perth! Seems some markets may be more valuable after all.

I wouldn't say shrugged off with ease lol. They lost $25mill in yr 1 of it and had significant reduced spending in community development and grassroots funding in yr2 to the tune of $35million.
We would have lost a lot more in 2020 if we didn't open the gates for Origin at the end of the year.

You need to read up about business and capitalism. I’m wondering if you still support the PNG bid

AFL clubs got an avg of $16.7mill grant in '21. NRL clubs got $15.3mill each (going from the Brisbane Broncos '21 annual report).
Yeh sure

Then as covid went on the arlc gave it’s clubs more whilst the afl cut its grants to clubs

and despite this the arlc announced a 100 million dollar bottom line

lmao

Yeah I know I corrected it. It was a typo
Nrl clubs are getting around 16.5 million each whilst the arlc announced a profit

afl cut spending at the same time and still lost money

there’s a 100 million gap between the two codes bottom lines

and with origin and finals crowds back to normal the arlc will generate an extra 20 to 30 million in additional gate revenue

That was the financial reporting up till Dec '21. What do you mean as covid went on? You're talking nonsense again.

Nope, they got $15.4mill last year of which a guaranteed c$610k went to players on top of the cap. Clubs ended up with about $14.9million for themselves. Meanwhile AFL clubs received $16.7mill avg each. But yeh keep telling us how much more NRL is paying its clubs lol.

What exactly is your point?

Are you suggesting that two areas are exactly the same or the processes between the Perth bid/bids and the entry of the GWS are exactly the same because the populations are roughly the same?
TV reach into western Sydney is huge for advertisers which equates to big bucks, this is why Packer loved league.

Maybe when the afl tv deal goes up they will be able to return spending back to normal and also not make a loss overall.

Thanks comrade. I have read plenty of Marx in my time.

Also, I don’t know what the benefit of you quoting a self serving murderous dictator like Lenin is. Notwithstanding the hypocrisy of a dictator also talking about self sacrifice.

Anyway, just in case you weren’t aware of the Cold War ending and the capitalists winning (sorry about that) how is anybody funding/paying for the PNG bid?

Sure that maybe one similarity with Perth. But to suggest all communities are some homogeneous blob is a bit ridiculous.
