When do we call time?

I don't see the problem with sacking a coach who is clearly not getting results. It's not like he hasn't been given a chance. And we haven't sacked a coach since Kearney. Stuart left. Arthur has been here for 5 years now. As I mentioned in a previous post the only coaches who have been coaching their current teams for as long or longer are Bellamy, Flanagan, Green and McGregor. 3 of those coaches have won a premiership in that time. 1 coach is currently 6-0. The other is 0 and 6.

Here are the issues:

We are 0 and 6
We are coming last
We have the worst attack in the competition
We have the 2nd worst defence in the competition
We have the worst for and against in the competition
Our off season recruitment was diabolical - 400k a year for Kane f**king Evans lol
We have not improved - in fact we are going backwards
The coach does not know how to fix the problems, he is lost for answers
He genuinely believes guys like Terepo and Kaysa are first graders. They are not even park footballers
The players are either a) following his game plans and they aren't working or b) flat out refusing to follow his game plans which mean he has lost them

Now a few people are saying we should wait till the end of the season. Why? We aren't making the 8 and if we wait till October / November the new coach doesn't get to recruit players he wants for 2019. Another year will be wasted. He gets the shitty left overs. We need to be proactive like the Tigers were last year when they allowed Cleary to start recruiting from about this time last year.

We are in a unique situation where there are 3 proven premiership winning coaches available NOW - Toovey, Hasler and Maguire.

I don't see the point in delaying the inevitable. BA has been here too long. The players are not responding to him.

Actually, the opposite is true. Fans who vent on here (a forum for footy fans) generally get crucified and marked as 'Death Riders'.

Lol. Poor Ivor...

Not sure I've seen you called a death rider, though? Could it be that you don't understand the concept?

We should only sack him if we think we have a better option. That might take some time.

We need to be comfortable that Hasler, Toovey or Maguire will add something and shouldn't just rush to sign one of them in an act of desperation.

Agreed. The process of appointing a new coach should be thorough. That process shouldnt take 6 months though

It might not be finished before the end of this season though. No point arseholing BA and throwing in Brett Kenny to see out the season if our saviour isn't going to start until 2019.

If it is the case of BA losing the players, I would say it would be due to his intensity that some players aren't responding to. In that case I can't see any of the 3 coaches mentioned getting any better performances as they are of the same ilk.
Again I said IF

I think if another coach came in, some of the players BA has decided to employ as his starting 17 may find themselves without a club.

The assistant takes over as caretaker coach. If he gets us one win he has improved us. If he doesn't we are in the same position we are in now. Appointing a coach at the end of the year means 2019 will be a waste too.

What a new coach can just magically change the roster without salary cap consequences.

I said end of season, not end of the year. End of season appointment at the absolute latest but preferably earlier so that they can get in and put their stamp on the team.

We seem to be agreeing except on the time frame. I would just prefer a new coach to be appointed earlier (mid year / origin time) as I think this season is gone already . Anyways, good chat

This season was over as soon as we were hyped.

The new trainer seems to be a bust or something that may turn out to be successful but needs time and that time may have been a whole season? Which is ridiculous of course......

BA is kind of f**ked right? He has Mr Purse Strings ensuring his staff are reduced and not to be replaced which makes it hard to be competitive right off the bat doesn't it?

Sure sack him if that is what is best but who that is decent will come here when they are told their operating budget is say 40% less than any other club?

Whilst I am dead set against sacking coaches and whether some agree or not, I still have a soft spot for Brad. Maybe it is primarily due to how he handled the cap year which took all our points and how he got thw best out of all the boys.
But, this post is compelling and extremely hard to find holes in. Great read.

People need to take the emotion out of it. Everyone loves BA including me.

But let' face it, he is trying to emulate the storm and doesn't have his own style or vision. He is not a coach.

He is not improving players and is not recruiting the right type of players.

He constantly needs to reinvent the team as new rules are implemented every year to stop teams bending the rules.

What worked last season wont' work this season.

He is just a great motivator unfortunately as he always seems to have the team giving it their all.
