When do we call time?

Yes if they consistently underperform, I agree. But not after one bad year. He deserves a chance, look at the dragons under McGregor - plenty of shit performances in his coaching career to!!

What ever happens we won't be waiting until October next year to determine our 2020 coach.

What makes you think if we are shit again next year that Gurr will wait until October to determine who is the coach for 2020? He is too good of an operator to be that stupid!!

It was you who said we need to let BA see out his contract - which runs to the end of 2019. I am saying if he continues to not get results he will be cut well before then and I hope Bernie thinks the same way

I'd say the Kearney/Stuart years were our lowest. In 2011 we won 6 games and 1 draw, In 2012 6 wins, 2013 5 wins.

I'd say this year is going to be pretty close to those
Early to mid 90s was complete plop. Consistent and thorough plop.

Salary cap dramas were the more recent low point. Some people are underestimating the profound impact that it has and will have going forward.

We've never ever sacked a coach ever. Even when Dally Messenger was our coach he just miraculously decided he'd had enough at the same point the club did...

If you were (hypothetically) trying to argue a case for BA to see out his contract, what would your main points be?

Hang in there guys, as a Dragons fan - everything being posted here I can tell you was being posted on Dragons Forumn, for last few years! Recruitment of key players, blooding some good juniors and have solid stock of the hard edged forwards is what you need. BA held your team together during the salary cap fiasco - but there must be player revolt going, or split locker room as you guys don’t look connected as a team right now...

You mean like how it had such a profound and long lasting impact on Canterbury and Melbourne?

Yet throughout the early to mid 90's and salary cap drama we never finished last, unlike Kearney/Stuart years.

but that press conference game me zero confidence that BA can do anything to get us out of the shit. In fact he was happy with the effort FFS!! Lucky it was a wet weather game against a poor raiders team.

Are you pissed of after we lose?

Don't you think BA is also pissed too?? He probably has just put in an 60 hour week plus another 15 hours of video reviews, then there is the game, and we lose!! He is f**ked gutted (a lot more then us considering how much effort / time he has put in) so I doubt he is going to thinking too clear or giving away much at a f**ked press conference!! It's the last thing he would want to do!!

While we have been shit, I am sure BA has big bloody idea why and is trying to fix it!! It's his bloody career FFS!! And it's not as easy as just swapping some players for reserve graders!!

I'm not arguing a case for BA to see out his contract. Just suggesting the idea that 'coaches don't get sacked' is naive.

Thank god for the Crushers and Magpies. It was impossible to finish last with them in the comp. We only won three games in 1995 and still couldn't do it!

Nope. I am talking about how it has and will have a profound impact on us because we appear to be playing by the rules under Max.

Remember the decision to bring in independent governance arrangements? Those arrangements were never required at Canterbury or Melbourne so our chances of recovering in the way that they did are not the same.

That is why I suggest that the salary cap fiasco was a real low point.

f**k I could actually recall in those years we could at least cheer for a try. Those years seem so long ago now

This isn't even close to the lowest we've been.
When were the last time we were 0 and 6 to start a season after being favourites for a top 4 finish???

We might have been lower but after finally looking like those dark days were behind us we are back here again so quickly.

It’s very exciting isn’t it? The thought of when our first victory will come has me all tingly on the insides.

It is not f**ken great. I'm not f**ken suggesting it is. I'm pointing out that, sadly as a club we have been lower than this.

The remaining of draw no opposition has a 2 day or 3 day advantage of rest time.
1 is the most or 1-2 in our favour.

Lets just see when other teams dont get the extra 2-3 days rest how they go against us.

People want to criticize me great, but I see us winning the next 3 games.

Here's my take:

Having the independent governance arrangements put on us was in hindsight a low point. Yes we saw some immediate improvements but ultimately it signalled a point where we broadcast to the NRL, fans, other clubs and future sponsors "Our club is so shit we cant actually manage it ourselves".

Think about that for a while and consider what it means. The scrutiny on 3rd party deals, no ability to cleverly and discretely bend the rules like other clubs. That is far more profound and sad than any short term results IMO.
