Where will SBW rank among the game's best ever second rowers?

When Andrew Johns said that Shane Warne is to cricket what SBW is to league that should be enough to end this.

SBW is the greatest forward i have ever seen,he is a force of nature...

Must have only started watching this game in the last few years. Even then f**king hell, his performance last night was not that good - see: Perth Red's stats. Should be enough to end this.:D

Easy to showboat when your not rolling the sleeves up

SBurgess 38 tackles 18 hit ups
GBurgess 30 tackles 17 hit ups
$BW 11 tackles (4missed!) 18 hit ups

He was defending at centre. I can't even imagine the lols if someone like George Burgess was asked to defend at centre and track back to field kicks.

Sam burgess missed 8 tackles, sonny made 215 m vs 150 m each , SBW made more try assists, more offloads and line breaks then the other 2 combined , less errors then either of them - see stats can tell different stories

Did anybody mention the times Burgess refused to pass to players in a better position? ... reading too much of his press, imho.

Yeah he bombed that one in the corner and then when he made that break he went for the dummy instead of drawing and passing, not sure if Farrell would have got there but still a bad option.

SBW attempts 15 tackles misses 4 tackles - 73% succcessful, 27% unsuccessful.

Sam Burgess attempts 46 tackles misses 8 tackles - 83% successful, 17% unsuccessful.

See stats can tell different stories.

Oh dear...

So much fail in this thread by people who would seemingly prefer Chris Houston in their team over Sonny-Bill.

No, some people are just disagreeing with your opinion that SBW is the best forward to ever play Rugby League.

Remember that guy Steve Menzies, or Shane Webke, or Glen Lazarus, or Brad Clyde, or Gene Miles...

All great players. Two of them are front rowers so you can't really compare in a like for like sense.

But IMO none of them have anywhere near the talent SBW possesses.

And they're not just disputing that... Some are actually arguing that he had an average game last night.

Missed 27% of tackles attempted, back to the U10's.

Attempted 15 tackles, and he is a forward; what was he playing netball?

On your horse and back to the sky, Tommy.:D

The great one actually stopped GIs momentum in stunning style. GI was just good enough to not go down and run through 3 of our other defenders from a standing start.

He certainly looked stunned as he was brushed aside and left like a turd on the floor by a back!

SBW hasn't dominated at rep level in league. So doesn't deserve to considered the best ever forward yet

Tackle stats are the most overrated stat in the game, I mean if tackle stats actually counted for anything, Liam Fulton would be playing for Australia

So is metres gained. One intercept and a run of say 60 metres can make a player look like a top gun attacker.

There is a need to look at the whole game (picture)

By the way, Liam wouldn't go too bad in the green and gold.

A quality player, provides a touch of class to the backrow/centre - but Gould's hyperbole is ridiculous.

Look at Inglis to see a genuine superstar.

He is also a princess showboating type more interested in putting on the big hits than doing the dirty work, and it is hard to have any respect for someone who is mortally offended by Beau Ryan's SBWTV. Even Gallen laughed at himself on that.

Mate forget stats all you needed to do was watch the game last night

11tackles all game, clearly preparing himself for a return to his union career.

You want to see a rock hard RL forward who will bust a gut to help his team, watch Bird's performance today. Not flashy, not glitzy not going to have commentators jizzing but give me that performance over $BW's every day of the week.

People actually trying to argue SBW didn't play well last night .

Clearly blinded by hatred. Dislike the guy off the field by all means but if you don't think he's an absolute weapon on the field you must be borderline geniused.
