San Andreas - Because Guns N Roses had a song on the radio...Booyah!!!

Nah, i played SA alot longer than the others. Loved the size of the map. I really got immersed in the atmosphere of the place. City, country...I just loved it...

San Andreas. I've completed the story over 20 times and on my main save spent hours and hours just having fun after completing 100%.

GTA 4 doesn't have that, once the story is over there is nothing to do. You make a lot of money but have nothing to buy, get lots of guns but have nobody to shoot. You spend the whole game as everybody's bitch and at the end you're a complete wreck who would probably top himself if he was real.

San Andreas has it all. Forming a crew and going on rampages against cops or rival gangs, races, gambling, property to buy, buildings to parachute from, territory to control, mountains, cities, country towns... it just has it all. And when you finish the story you can continue to play as a hood in Los Santos, a racer or car thief in Fierro, a casino tycoon in Venturas, a country bumpkin in Whetstone or a psychopath in all four. It was brilliant.

San Andreas > Vice City > GTA IV > GTA III.

When I play a video game I don't want it to be realistic. I want to be entertained. It was much harder to stick with GTA4 because it was so repetitive. Every mission kind of rolled into one another... where was the cool stuff like picking up the porn magazines in the van? The demolition derby? As I said mate, it's "drive here, kill these guys, come back safely".

By vigilante missions I meant the whole R3 kind of scenario, not having to get a cop car, park it, open the computer, select this...

It's like True Crime in the same sense that they give you a giant map with very little to keep you occupied.

that was the whole idea of multiplayer

san andreas was enormous with heaps to do and great customization, but the pop up bugged the sh*t out of me. nearly made flying the fighter jet impossible near trees and buildings
Vice city is almost my favourite, loved the story and having Ray liotta voicing the main character was an awsome choice( i loved goodfellas)
GTA 4 is probably my favourite, i just cant get over the amount of detail and wow moments in this game. i saw a cop chasing a criminal on foot so i followed, after catching the crim the cop called for a car, a police car turned up, they loaded the crim in the car and off they went, i thought they would just vanish around the corner, but i grabbed a car and followed them all the way to the police station.
The only thing that sh*ts me about GTA 4 is keeping up the relationships, take that away, add the ability to buy property like vice city, and the customization of san andreas and GTA 4 would be perfect. dont forget the new missions should be ready to download next month

People that want the fun factor of San Andreas etc back should look into Saints Row 2.

I gave up on GTA4 after about 2 weeks. Saints Row 2 I am still playing months later, largely just having a ball with flying the various planes and helicopter around the maps and shooting the christ out of the police.

Completely unrealistic and brilliant because of it. Much better fighting system too.

I loved the size of San Andreas. Many people think too big is annoying, but for me, it's great. It makes the game more realistic and there's more to explore and do. For instance, whenever you drive the trains, it would be pointless on a smaller map as you go over and over the same places again. I think in GTA SA I've done a lap of the entire state once without the train derailing

Gameplay wise I'd say San Andreas. It's rotten shame it had such a crap main character. He was such a bitch, especially with the ladies. Tommy would never take that sh*t.

i'll let the "next generation" fallacy slide (what do you even mean by that?)... i know which GTA games you're talking about. you didn't answer my question. why?
Ummm... because GTA 1 and 2 are Generation 1 GTA games, I'm talking the next generation mate ;-)

i want to know, i hate losing missions and stuff like that so what i do, is i save where i am currently and if i fail a mission, i revert back to the save game until i get it right.

does everyone else do this?
are there different missions if you fail some?

GTA4 is the only one I bothered to finish...loved it. Played most of Vice City, somehow got distracted and went and played something else before I got to the end.

Exactly right, I loved it. I love going to the rural towns, stealing big trucks and then going full pelt down the highways and smashing off everyone in my path :D total mayhem and destruction FTW.

No I don't think it changes the outcomes of the games and missions you get to do because in these current GTA games, when you die, you start back right from where you left off. Reloading the game everytime you die would take too much time and make the game longer and more frustrating to finish IMO. I do not, however, use any cheats until I finish the game.

GTAIV was a totally different gaming experience then its predecessors so there is obviously no use comparing the two...

with people complaining that there isnt much to do or its not as fun in IV's Liberty City but hopefully the "rumours" (and i do say rumours) about the DLC (for 360 owners at least) will continue to grow the city opening more stores and activities to be had...

On that note, I used to enjoy standing next to the fast highways, and if you faced them so you weren't looking down the highway, just directly at it, and park a car across the road. One car would hit it and it would just continue until you had a massive pileup.
