I think it all hinges on Emu.

If Emu fulfils his potential and becomes that alpha like front rower that can be relied on to come on and always dominate the ruck and make his tackles then our front row rotation will not lose ground or momentum when either of the other two palookas come off, which in turn will not undo all the onslaught that we inflicted to that point.

This obviously means that the rest of the team(especially the play makers) will then find that the space out there is opening up and they can and will do what they do best, even if our backline does have some limitations.

Even our defense will benefit from a better middle rotation too and a player like Morretti will then have a better outcome when he too comes on if the team is not in a holding state or going backwards during his minutes on the field, while he is still trying to find his feet in the top grade.

Our middle rotation is vital and has been lacking for years no matter what anyone says. You need at least 3 if not 4 high standard FR's to win a comp. Very rare not to. It changes everything. Watch how the Broncos have a lesser impact next year now that they have lost Flegler, unless they have another quality FR that I am not aware of.

Defense wins premierships, but front rowers are just as important to dominate the middle otherwise no matter how good your defense is it will eventually crumble.

Trent Barrett pushed Gutho out ironically and let's be honest the choice between Turbo or Gutho you would have been mad to let Turbo go.

It's just ironic Turbo has had barely played a full season in the top grade and just a injury ravaged while Gutho has had just 1 bad injury with us in 8 years.

I had a laugh the other day with a Manly mate both Turbo and Gutho pocketed 30k at Origin time this year for basically 3 mins of being on the field. 10k per minute

One left with his arm in a brace and the other left with a smile.

Agreed. Throw in rcg. A punch of rcg and Emu will set the platform.. No nonsense and straightforward.

Jnr can come off from the bench and play specific roles depending on the game

Manly were pissed of when we signed him as they were keen on keeping him

I don't ever recall him being a reject, he was a young fringe player from memory

I think I recall some comments from Manly at the time that they were looking to have Gutherson as their long-term centre.

They were definitely annoyed when we snagged him.

As good as Tommy Turbo is if you look at the past 5 season cumulatively, Guthos total output shits on what Turbo has produced.

Manlys whole fortunes of being competitive hinge on him staying on the field and he has barely been able to do it his whole career to date.

Manly had Turbo at fullback ... no brainer to make him their fullback at the time

They then had to chose between Gutho and Hiku who was worth keeping and who to let go to free up some coin.

Hiku was very good at the time.

We got Gutho cos BA liked him from his time as assistant at Manly

I’m with @hineyrulz who mentioned Paulo. He was very disappointing this year. Once we lost RCG we struggled. He needs to step up this year. Do the hard stuff, not just the pretty stuff.
Once we lost RCG, the game plan against us was to limit the time that Paulo had to wind up which limited the roll on we got. Junior can play the ball quite quickly as he rarely gets put on the ground when he follows up RCG who also has quick PTB's the other forwards play off the back off that. Against Souths that worked quite well with Greig, Ogden and Makatoa as well as Junior all well in excess of 100ms gained. Greig and the other bench forwards need to increase their involvement like they can do as shown against Souths and this will help the likes of Junior if RCG is injured/suspended.

Horses for courses.

If I were the coach I would rotate who starts on any given game day between the three depending on the team we are playing, tactics, wear and tear during the season and so forth. But I'm not the coach and who knows what that Potato Head is thinking other than they need to chase the collision and that the two that get paid the most need to do the long minutes.

He is a very basic sausages and potatoes kind of coach after all.

That game against Souths, Souths played like fat ducks with a belly full of led. They sucked like herpes balls.

No reason why the no 17 & 18 in squad aren't rated as well.

Well if Brett Kimmorley had the foresight to visit an optromist since the 2005 origin Gutho would have as many Dally m's as turbo right now.
