Once it became apparent he was in a bad way attitudes on field changed..
Not quite ..after McKinnon was carried from the field .Then Smith protested to the ref saying
1/ There have been worse tackles than that
2/ the reason he got hurt was because HE tucked his head under before the tackle
3/ So your saying if he didn’t tuck his head then there’s no penalty..
That’s crossing the line
The guy has been carried off the field so it’s something serious ...Smith saw McKinnon tuck his head under himself so with a bit of IQ combined with any kind of concern for your fellow league player he would know there’s no coming back from that ..And he’s gasping for air (likely never seen before) so it’s more evidence this is likely a serious neck injury and possible paralysis.
And then when McKinnon calls him out on the 60 minutes programme which was justified Smith defends himself for the sake of his image and again showing zero regard for a player that had the worst possible result from a tackle.Maybe worse than death..
This footage is defence of smith ..But all I need to see is smith after McKinnon has been carried from the field still arguing with the ref trying to pin the blame on McKinnon because of his voluntary head tuck.. knowing from the evidence 1/his neck couldn’t survive that 2/ he was carried from the field 3/ he's gasping for air ...ok so surely now it’s time to shut up....but no Smith ploughs on ....Sure that was a voluntary head tuck and without it there’s likely no injury but those words can only come from a nasty piece of work with no regard for any other person regardless their circumstance in what any other captain would ID as a most sensitive moment .. that’s a really murky place to go where only dregs of the earth captains would go to attempt to get a penalty.... imo no other captain would have gone there ..That's a line you just don’t cross .....But not for Smith
