Who do we need to recruit in 2018?

MU - those would all be good. I think we need though some classy backs. Losing the Turd is a big loss on the field. Off the field it's a blessing.

I'd go after Ferguson or Dugan. They are grubs but they are quality players and they could both play fullback. They are absolute turds and if we can get someone else I'd be cool with that. I suppose there will be options elsewhere.

Ferguson is overrated and overpriced.

I'd rather keep Kev than have that twat here.

Dugan I could handle though. He's cleaned up his image off field.

Packer would be good but hard to swallow having him at the club...but i suppose every bonehead thug deserves a secomd chance...except Lodge.
A good part of Balin"s 200?k can be offset to MM's rapid development

If we are 100% losing Teddy and Ava then I think we need to sign the following:
Packer - 350k
Dugan - 1m
Tolman - 450k
Kahu - 400k
Guerra - 550k
Lolohea - 350k

Total = 3 million. Could we make that fit? Our team could actually look like:

1. Dugan
2. Nofa
3. Suli (backup kicker)
4. Kahu (kicker)
5. Lolohea (fullback cover for Dugan during Origin or Injuries)
6. Reynolds
7. Brooks
8. Mautilino
9. MM
10. Tolman
11. Mcqueen
12. Guerra
13. ET

14. Packer
15. Sue
16. Lawrence
17. Liddle

We need a lot of players because we need some depth as well. It'll be interesting who the club gets.

How much do you have left over to sign the other 13 players (apparently the squad numbers are going up to 30.)

Yep - squad goes to 30 next year. Thats why we are going to see players like Rankin resigned (dont do nuts). They are cheap and fill the numbers. We need at least 4 or 5 players in the 30 that wont play grade, but we need them for the cap.

Doesn't bother me if Rankin and co are re-signed - next year we probably won't even have any origin players anyway considering Teddy and woods aren't here so they won't even play unless we have a njmber of injuries

Exactly - and origin is a big thing, which is why Ive always thought we should focus on kiwi and English players.

With a squad of 30, we're going to have to have players the likes of Rankin, Hunt etc available... Fringe first graders who can parachute in for a game when injuries really hit.

Exactly - or else they stay on the books and we never use them.

Most teams use less than 30 players through the year. I think extending the squad is more about removing the need for clubs to get a special dispensation to use a player.

, I was going to post this yesterday from the NSWRL site, stats from last weekend, maybe Rankin has found his spot?

You can only play with what's around you and against your opposition on the day but Rankin has had a few games at No 7, last weekend at 7.

Tackles: 20
Metres: 95
Runs: 14
Kicks in Play: 10
Goals: 4

Further details from the NSWRL site, Team of the Week from last weekend included: 2 names that have been thrown around and 1 already a Tiger.

1 – Dylan Edwards
Club: Penrith Panthers

23 total runs, 257 total metres, one line-break, eight tackle-breaks, one offload.
With two NRL games to his name, Edwards continues to impress for the Panthers – leading many to expect another club to snap him up before too long. In the meantime, he’s performing well at Penrith and ran further than any other player in Round 8.

2 – Tuimoala Lolohea
Club: New Zealand Warriors

Two tries, one try-assist, 154 total metres, one line-break, one line-break assist.
Lolohea proved to be the biggest threat on the field in the New Zealand Warriors 24-8 victory over the Bears at North Sydney Oval. He opened proceedings by supporting Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to score in the right corner, before setting up Matthew Allwood just 28 minutes later. He then scored a long-range intercept try in the second half, which was a vital moment in the game given the scores were locked up at 8-all.

6 – Vairu Mapesone
Club: Wests Tigers

Three try-assists, three line-break-assists, one tackle-break, 20 tackles.
Directly laying on three of the Tigers’ five tries, Mapesone was on song against the Sea Eagles at Leichhardt. A late inclusion, he fitted in well alongside halfback Jordan Rankin, also making 20 tackles as the Tigers held Blacktown out for the final 20 minutes.

yep, my mate whos a huge souffs fan reckons one of the biggest keys to their success in 2012-2015 was that a lot of their better players i.e burgiiX3, issac luke, asotasi etc never got lost to origin. during that time you get teams missing their stars while your still strong, plus they dont get the 'origin hangover' which seems to effect sides with lots of them.

I don't agree with the sentiment regarding Origin. Look at the last two grand finals:
Sharks vs. Storm (Ennis, Fifita, Gallen, Bird, Maloney, Cronk, Smith, Chambers all played Origin)
Cowboys vs. Broncos (Thurston, Morgan, Scott, Tahmoa, Gillet, Thaiday, Parker, Mcqguire all played Origin)

Perhaps we have signed the replacement for Tedesco?

Malakai Watene-Zelezniak will join the Wests Tigers immediately from the Penrith Panthers the club announced on Saturday morning.

The 25-year-old will join the club for the remainder of 2017 and the 2018 NRL seasons.

Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary welcomed Watene-Zelezniak to the club.

"I look forward to having Malakai as a part of our squad moving forward," said Cleary. "Malakai offers great versatility and further strengthen the depth in our outside backs."

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe echoed Cleary's sentiments.

"This is a great opportunity to Malakai to further his NRL career at a new club," said Pascoe. "He’s a great young man who I’ve had the pleasure of working with before and I’m sure he’ll fit right in here at Wests Tigers."

Capable of playing wing, centre and fullback, Watene-Zelezniak made his NRL debut for the Penrith Panthers in Round 6 this season against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

We need to target Edwards next.

Eastwood or Guerera

I have never remembered us being liked to (and actually getting) so many quality players ever.
