Scurrah rejected any talk Elliott had lost the support of the players. His time at the Panthers was dogged by rumours towards the end of his tenure that he had difficulty conveying his message to his players.

“Everyone in the room when we spoke today — the players and the staff — we all feel we’ve let Matt down in some ways,’’ Scurrah said. “No one always agrees in every organisation with how the boss wants to do it ... but I thought in general he had excellent support from the players.’’

hmmm...

I admire a leader who makes the unpopular, but correct call and sticks with it. (Cappy has done that at times, and not at others). I'd hardly say that Taylor and the Tigers are a stark comparison.

I think that's a known and accepted fact about Elliott. Nice guy, knows footy well but has a tendency to over complicate things constantly and as a result struggles to communicate things clearly to players.
However I still think we made a bad mistake ditching him when we did. The original plan of Cappy taking over in 20-5 and Elliott moving to a coaching directors role should have been followed, even if it practice it meant that Cappy was doing most of the day to day coaching that season. Cappy got promoted before he was ready and lost a valuable mentor due to the club panicking and punting Elliott early.

You know a few years ago I would have laughed at this but after the last few seasons I wouldn't be surprised if they left it til a week or so before the 2017 kickoff

If that happens it'll be utterly unprofessional. I expect an announcement by November at the absolute latest. The coaching setup has to be properly in place for the pre-season.

Do the media in general seem a bit over-friendly with Cappy? There doesn't seem to be any 'demands' for him to go.

I'm ready for both outcomes. Staying or going. It'd be completely underwhelming to hear that the likes of Jones or Kidwell got the gig.

I'd take Kidwell due the quality of his apprenticeship. That worked for us with Ivan, and for the Storm with Bellamy.

Well you thinking Im Iron Lion shows youre in the wrong frame of mind. Im not attention seeking with my theories, Ive presented my theory and although its hard to prove either way, I already know its outlandish. Albert Einstein, Colomubus their theories were outlandish before they were proven. Not saying Im them but sometimes its good to think outside the box on other possible underlying explanations for our teams underachievements. We covered several reasons why, but is that it? or does it go deeper? I mean if Cappys the problem and everyone knows that but Doyle cant sack him cos of the way Doyle THINKS a potential coach might decline an offer due to job security, just seems small to me. Possible? yes and I clap my hands to you for solving the puzzle, heres your plastic medal because that cant be it. I think theres more. Anyway, Ill end it there before I write a novel. And Wheelie- Im with on the Warriors 100% but the Aussies loving the Warriors more, I DOUBT IT.

And its not your posts that Wheelys wanking over, its my theories were discussing. Not going to explain it if youre wondering. Look it up at the back there somewhere.
