Triple M's Paul Kent reports that the Dragons are in discussions with Ivan Cleary and that "the job is his if he wants it."

It's understood the Dragons want a long term coach with NRL experience at turning a struggling club around.

The Warriors are also chasing Cleary, but Ivan's superstar son Nathan, who is currently playing for the Panthers, will play a big part in the decision.

This is exactly why Doyley should have wrapped Cleary up (long-term) yonks ago. We're not going anywhere next year if McFlaps is still coach. Although we could fight for the spoon if he is there. Guess that would be something in the trophy cabinet.

No matter what the squad is he can't make it work. He'll probably stick 2 backs and a backup half/hooker on the bench for next year. I mean our wingers are big enough to take the hitups right? Why even have forwards? I mean Melbourne/Raiders/Sharks/Cowboys/Broncos etc... don't get much use out of their forwards do they? Oh wait just a minute.................

Paul Kent makes more sense in that clip than anything else I have seen on the coaching front.
Ivan and Nathan? Throw the bank at them.

The other thing Paul mentions about paying odd players well above what their position demands is good advice. Manu is now being paid wayyyyy above what he is worth.

Doyle wasn't part of the club back then. if you meant he should of locked him up when Cleary got ousted by Penrith it was already too late as Cappy got the extension

In this case, I did mean after Cleary left Penrith so thanks for reminding me about that fact :D

In saying that, the club never should have let Cleary go at the end of 2011. They should have had him locked in long-term back then. We have gone nowhere since he left :(

Anyone know what John Ackland is up to nowadays? Coaching or recruitment anywhere?

Gordon Tietjens has just become available, shall we add him to the wishlist?
For the 9's maybe..

If they wanted to boost the squads confidence and surprise the squad at training for the 9s, Tietjans walking onto the paddock will do just that. However they will eventually remember the stories about his tough training sessions and instantly drop their heads.

I think Ivan will end up at the Saints.

That way he will be able to see his son without having to catch a plane.

Says he would consider it, and the Warriors might jag him, if McGregor survives.

Cleary has some un-finished business with the Warriors. It will be a good feeling to have him back for me personally. He can handle the egos and keep everyone in check. These babies in First Grade need a father figure type like Cleary so if we get no proven then throw him the line he deserves I say
