Minichello would be up there if he hadnt been cut down by injury. Was awesome before the back injuries and showed alot of class this year as well.

Lockyer was the best I ever saw. He was... he was like poetry in motion. He was like Renoir and Monet. He was as graceful as a fawn and as majestic as a racehorse. When he ran the ball something always happened. It was a sight to behold watching him in full flight. He's not half the 5/8 as he was fullback. And he is as tough as they come. He was... the greatest.

Of the current players playing fullback at the moment, Mini and Slater are the two best I have seen. They are both very different; Slater been as quick and agile as he is while Mini was unpredictable and broke tackles at will. When they were both at their very best - the peak of their careers - Mini wins for me. Call it bias, but I have doubts that we would have got to those grand finals without him. He was that club at that point in time. He was heading back to that form at the end of the season. Very exciting for the club I must say.

Slater is.. well.. Slater. What can you say that hasn't already being said? As quick as they come, outstanding support play, individual brilliance in buckets - teams just hang off him which is a sign of a great player. He has the occasional brain explosion and can go quiet if he gets belted but give him an inch and he will take a mile. Just a joy to watch.

An honorable mention must go to Luke Phillips. He wasn't in the same class as most of these guys, but he was as tough as they come. His positional play was fantastic, his defence was outstanding and I will never, ever, forget that performance in the 2000 grand final. One of the bravest - not to mention best - performances I have ever seen on a football field. If the Roosters had of won he would have been a Clive Churchill Medallist. He kept us in the game, and one of my favourite football memories is seeing him dive to catch a ball with the defence bearing down on him. One of the most underrated players in the last 20 years.

 I swear at least 5 players were a sure thing for that award...

Schif was another player that definitely deserves a mention. Should've played Origin in 2004 after Lockyer shifted.

Given that it was revealed Schifcofske was leading the count when it was called off, and the fact that he was absolutely untouchable for the rounds after, I think it's a fair assumption to make.

Craig Gower was the favorite to win the award that year.

nick parfitt failed to get a mention , disapointed

feel bad for nick. australian open school boys year 11 and 12 (not sure how many players have made it both senior years). about 5 clubs chasing him out of high school and he chooses the broncs who just happended to have the best fullback going around.

gets a few games and gets thrown on the scrap heap.

and i voted mini, the way he dominated those 3 origin seriers in the early 2000's is the best ive seen. and unlike slater he has some class..... wouldnt even be a discussion if he stayed healthy.

Voted for 3 guys..

Slater, who is the best fullback I've ever seen. He's got a fantastic mix of everything you want in a footballer. Minichiello, who was so dominant in the early 2000's and Luke Patten, who is the most under rated player in the history of the game.

It hurts me to do so, but i voted for Slater. He has been the best for the past few years and probably still is the best at the moment.

I feel dirty now... Must go and shower...

Locky is the best fullback of I have seen by a large Margin

But since he would be the 5/8 of the decade as well Slater just above Mini would be my choice

1. Slater for his attitude and brilliance. Never stops chasing in attack or defence. Amazing speed off the mark.

2. Locky was a smarter, better ball playing FB and very much like a machine with his concentration and execution. Had good speed when he was younger but never gave off that "how the f**k did he do that?" vibe you get with Slater.

3. The rest. No bad players there and they have all had standout seasons and I am sure most fans wouldn't have traded them for the world at their peak but they are not quite as dominant as Slater and Locky.

The only time ive ever really 100% supported against Slater was when watching Australia smash Fiji at the 2008 WC. I hated his guts, he was just so good. Only time ive really got to see him without any bias. Even when supporting NSW I have a soft spot for all the Melbourne players.
