Who will improve in the off season???

We saw a few guys like Todd Lowrie, Anthony Quinn, Matt Kennedy and Riley Brown really take a step up in the last off season - which is what happens when you have a young squad - so who will be the big improvers this off season?

My tips;

George Carmont - George was vey jaded for the last half of the year after putting in a massive off season to get up to NRL standard fitness wise and playing his heart out for the first half of the year. He still had a lot to learn, but he was too burnt out to make improvements in his game. I think he will be a much better player next season after another good off season.

Dane Tilse - Last off season he trained with the Flegg squad - but this off season he will train with the seniors. He made a massive improvement during last season, and I think he will continue the rapid improvement in the off season - he will be our best prop next season.

Steve Witt - Took a step up to firstgrader last season, and eventually became a very competent one. He will be one of the 'boys' next year, and his game will improve because of it.

Riley Brown - a great athlete and a guy with a brilliant attitude as well. He will train the house down and waltz into firstgrade next season.

Blake Mueller - He had a hernia operation in the last off season and couldn't train really hard till well into the season - but the guy is a workaholic and will be our fitest player next year.

Matt White - Couldn't train till near the end of the season last year and only played a few games - but the 20 year old 110kg prop was starting in Premier League at the end of the season - a full off season of training with the seniors will have him bigger and meaner than Perry.

Reegan Tanner - another who had a very short season last year because of injury, but he is set to have a big off season and really improve in leaps and bounds.

Having Billy Peden and David Fairleigh pushing those guys in training will really push them along.

I look forward to seeing the results of this years off season training. We came out fit and firing last year then joey got injured and the whole team seemed to never regain the fitness they showed in that penrith game in rd 1.

I haven't got anything to go on - but I think Campbell will improve by heaps by training with Joey and Kurt.

Good overall analysis there, roopy. I have a good feeling about the first four guys there. All first graders in the making, IMO.

Can't wait to be down there and seeing them all play regularly.

I was hoping Josh Perry but thats probably asking abit too much. I was watching a replay of the 2001 grand final and the way Perry took the ball up in that game was good, and the look in his eyes when he took the ball up was fearsome, after that I thought he'd really go on to become a household name however he's just gone backwards especially last season. Look the bloke can still be a very good player if he wants to be. His size, and agility for a man his size is something that can't be coached and Perry has it in abundance, especially the size bit. If he can improve his fitness, put his body on the line during games and take responsibility for the teams go forward I think he could be a superior player to Mark O'Meley, but in saying that its probably asking way too much of Josh.

Daniel Abraham, in my opinion the bloke is capable of playing test football, he reached rep football last year and was playing well up to that point before his injury. He's an athletic, backrower, good ball runner, and can kick goals. If he finds some improvement in the off season he could be the next Steve Menzies.

Kurt Gidley, if Joey stays fit I think Kurt can go even better. Last season he was given a huge responsibility and ultimately had too much pressure placed on him. I've always felt that he's a better ball runner than a ball player. If Joey is on the park doing his stuff, Kurt can probe around and use his footwork and acceleration and find gaps, however Joey staying fit is another question altogether.

They will both have to if they want a place in a team thats shaping up quite nicely.

I'm going to say Lowrie. He's got the skills, he just seemed a bit raw this year. Hopefully he comes back from his serious injury like Newton did and becomes a much better player.

I'm going to go with Riley Brown. The kid is a freak at lock. If he can get some decent game time there next year, he won't look back.

Id like to see more of Tilse next year. His last few games this year left me wanting see more of him, especially with the off-season he can only get better.
