:lol:Wow, this takes a special kind of doofus to misread so badly. Suggesting the board should disembowel themselves is promoting incompetence? Hint, maybe if a words not in your vocabulary you can put it in the google machine and educate yourself before insulting others.

It requires an incompetent board to appoint Mary.

Why would the Board want to appoint Mary as head coach?

1. He would come relatively cheap.
2. He is part of the old boys club.
3. His appointment would be a political win for some Board members.
4. Winning the competition is not the highest priority of our current Board.
5. For those in charge, it is the easiest thing to do.

Yes I do. It is my view that Board members do not put a priority on winning the competition. To win you need a good experienced coach and we have seen over the past 3 seasons that the Board are satisfied with hiring rookies in the head coach position. The results we have earned are consistant and predictable with such poor policy.

The Board is also under-performing when it comes to off-field matters as well. Persistent rumours and reporting on the sorry state of the Club's finances indicate that the Board has also failed to meet their responsibilities with regards to the financial management of the Club.

I seriously believe dominant members of the Board are more concerned with protecting their employment longevity with spin and jargon rather than developing and implementing innovative measures to solve the Club's on-field and off-field problems.

100% agree with you Possum , you have summed up the whole setup well.

The warning bells were there at the start of the year when the club went to the NRL for an advance on their funds, hardly prudent business practice, spending money before it is generated is not a good way to do business.

Doust is of the age that he would have his retirement in his sights and I'm sure he would do anything to hang on to his well paid position to keep bolstering his super.I'm not sure what other board members receive remuneration wise but they wouldn't be doing it for nothing,i'm sure.

I was warming to Mary. BUT a few decisions recently prove to me that he cannot be our next coach. He's too close and "matesy" with players and former players at the club.

These 2 decisions IMO put the red pen through Mary's name :

1. Selecting dan hunt last week. This was a joke and he only selected him because he's too close to him. Hunt was in poor form prior to injury and hasn't played much football since. Selecting him in such an important game proves that his judgement is clouded and off the mark. Very very poor team selection that proved costly.

2. Selecting Kyle Stanley to play against raiders. I mean what was this??? Rein has been playing some of his best football of late and Mary decided to bring in Stanley and plays him at dummy half. Absolutely ridiculous selection. Stanley should be moved on but Mary gives him a crack in first grade when our season is on the line. Yes we won the game, but Stanley had no part in that victory.

Another coach would not make the above blunders and Mary will continue to make them.

We need a new coach. End of story.

If we do get Mary I won't be happy but I won't be too upset either. If this year is anything to go off, if we had Mary from the start of the season we would have probably won a couple more games and be in the top 8 by now!!!

Just listening to 2MMM, they are saying Sheens with Trent Barrett as assistant? Benji was also being interviewed and was glowing about what Sheens could bring to the Club...If option is Sheens then would rather have Macgregor as assistant.

Tough Maker..I am sure David Waite made a few poor selections in his time..even Bennett kept selecting our favourite son in Matt Prior.
I reckon we wait for another 2 losses before we completely scratch Mary..finishing on 28 points could buy him a 1 year contract..it wasn't his doing with those heavy losses to the Dogs,Roosters and the Eels.

Mate we need to be tough markers. We haven't made the finals for years.

Those 2 decisions I mentioned stink of Steve price. They stink of everything that's wrong with our club. And that is favours for the boys. Hunt and Stanley are not first graders and should Never have been selected.

The club will wait until end if year but but making the 8 I can't see how that helps Mary.

Making the eight would help Mary for sure, all the proven top coaches are not available, only Tim Sheens is available.

Yep I wouldn't mind having a premiership winning forward defending the right either.
