Fumbleball is a religion in Perth. I've been telling you this for weeks. Every other sport relies on sustained success to remain relevant. What about Dockers who've been sht for most of their existence but draw avg crowds higher than any NRL club?
Breaking news, clubs draw lower crowds when not performing. Thanks for pointing out the bleeding obvious lol
How is an increase in funding going to convince more Western Australians to play rugby league? No I'm suggesting there's cause and effect.
$2mill grassroots funding a year in WA would be a good start and one NRL club so there is a local elite pathway to the top. Then you'd maybe see the next Cam Munster emerge from Perth in a few years.
When people admonish the Storm for not investing in junior RL you say that's the ARLC'S job. Now you're saying a Perth team will invest in junior pathways. Way to contradict yourself!yeh I have no hope either lol, thats why the only hope is to get an NRL club here that will invest in pathways as ARLC will no doubt continue to fail to fulfill its mandate.
kids dont play sports because of passion lol. They play it because its cool, they see it, they hear about it, its available to them in schools, there's clubs locally, its cheap, they are exposed to it, theres a city club to follow and so it goes on.How is an increase in funding going to convince more Western Australians to play rugby league?
You cannot buy passion.

It is the ARLC's job. The fact they arent doing their job is massive issue for the game. When people admonish the Storm for not investing in junior RL you say that's the ARLC'S job. Now you're saying a Perth team will invest in junior pathways. Way to contradict yourself!

WA has 5 development officers for the whole state!
Increased funding could be used to increase the SHS program, increase development officers, support start up of more jnr clubs, encourage jnr schools to play touch then a jnr schools nine state comp. and so it goes on. There is very clear evidence that investment eqauls returns in this regard.
we already have a quite successful, all be it small, SHS program. Finals taking place as we speak. You're delusional if you think the SHS system and AwFuL is going to allow all of that to happen.
It is the ARLC's job. The fact they arent doing their job is massive issue for the game.
Jnr particpation and then into pathways is a real mess, ask anyone in the game. They've cut over $40million from grassroots funding in last 2 years. We await to see if any of it has returned in 2023.
The fact they ARLC arent doing their job means the only way it will happen is if there is an NRL club here doing it for them. It shouldnt have to be but thats the reality of where the commissions priorities lie under Vlandys.
Again thats mostly BS, clubs fund elite pathways not participation. So stop blaming the ARLC for the Storm's refusal to fund grassroots football in Victoria. Every other club has to support their catchment. Dolphins were made to invest $5m in their junior clubs.
we already have a quite successful, all be it small, SHS program. Finals taking place as we speak.
How is AFL going to stop it? HAs the NRL stopped it in Brisbane for AFL?
There are already programs running with the meagre resources we have, all I'm suggesting is we grow what we've got and make it much larger.
The ARLC cannot force kids to play the game. This is Australia. Not PRC or North Korea.Again thats mostly BS, clubs fund elite pathways not participation.
Its the ARLC's job to increase participation.
Thats a very strange take on what Ive said. ARLC can do everything in its power to make sure RL is an opportunity for kids to play. It can also, along with the clubs, encourage kids to play. But guess what if Im not exposed to it as kid and there's no motivation for me to play it Im going to be playing the sports that do offer that to me where I am.The ARLC cannot force kids to play the game. This is Australia. Not PRC or North Korea.
There pretty much is, its a well tried and tested evidence based outcome. So what are you whinging about?
You've got a system. It's only produced 4k players. There's no guarantee that increasing its funding will lead to more kids playing the game.
It's already offered to schoolchildren in Perth. They prefer to play fumbleball because it's the largest sport by a country mile. No matter how much money the ARLC spends on RL in Perth it will never be as big as fumbleball.Thats a very strange take on what Ive said. What we've got now is reflective of the resources put into the game here. Increase the resources, increase the games participation. As a rugby league fan Id have thought you'd be all for that?
So what are you whinging about?

It doesnt need to be. Its a pretty dumb position to say we shouldnt try and grow our sport because it'll never be as big as the incumbent one. It's already offered to schoolchildren in Perth. They prefer to play fumbleball because it's the largest sport by a country mile. No matter how much money the ARLC spends on RL in Perth it will never be as big as fumbleball.
A few posts up you said kids play what they think is "cool". In Perth that's fumbleball.
wtf? Soccer has a higher participation rate than afl and RL combined! Pretty dumb example to pick out lolPerth Red: "Kids play sports they think are cool."
Perth Red: "Kids play sports that waste the most money on development officers and promotional campaigns."
How did the A-League promotional campaigns work out for them?
How so?
Melbourne has about 5k participants. Games not involving the Storm are watched by just 8k people in Melbourne. The same amount for games in Perth. The difference is Perth has the potential to produce more players.
What's stupid is your insane belief that we should ignore a bid from Brisbane that will bring in more sponsorship than any non-Queensland team and draw 25k or more to its home games, for no other reason than you think the possibility of creating a few thousand fans in Perth is more important.
Force used to average 27k spectators to their games at Subiaco. That's more than twice as many as the Reds got in their best season.
If you think we should go where the people are then why aren't you pushing for the Raiders to f**k off to Perth?
