Im a fan, just wish it had a longer finish. But needed a celebratory wine after todays result at work and d'Arenberg never lets me down.

Still have two bottles to go if I need more celebratory wine...

So I've been doing up a catalogue of all the wine I've got in boxes and such around the place...had a look in the Vintec, I am surprised at some of the stuff I actually have. It also got me thinking, what have people got that they're squirreling away for something really special?

Some of them were very cool finds, I had no idea I had them because I purposely try and bury and forget about the good stuff so I don't find it when I'm half cut and hook into it

Not bad. I was at the Mt Pleasant cellar door last week, picked up some Barwang GDR cab sav and some shiraz/pinot

GDR will be my next acquisition. $25 wine that should be retailing for $40.

What shiraz / pinot did you grab?

Have yet to make it up to Mt Pleasant; really keen to see it though.

Cockfighter's Ghost 2006 Shiraz for me tonight. Really enjoying it quite a bit!

2008 Picardy Merlot/Cab Sav/Cab Franc....well, prior to bonfire whiskey in my yard anyway. Started off green as f**k, a good four hours in the decanter has mellowed it a bit but still needs years and years. Much softer tannins, plenty of plum and tomato leaf and dried herb. Gonna leave the rest in the decanter for the rest of the night tbh, polish it off before bed!

Tonight we are serving King Crab claws for entre accompanied by a Wolfblass unwooded chardinay.

To follow we have prawn cakes, coconut prawns and Nile Perch accompanied by Heartland Langhorne Ck 2101 Cab Sav

For desert we are serving Rocky Road Ice Cream

Speaking of dessert....picked up 6 bottles of Vidal Fleury Muscat (dessert wine kind, not fortified), 3 Romer du Hayot Sauternes 2005 and 3 Carmes du Rieussec Sauternes 2008 for $ 199.50 total. Happy with that!

Apologies for the absence. Very, very busy @ work & stuff going on outside of work. Had a cracker last night & thought I should pop my head in. Beautiful Brides bday. So I decided to crack a 2006 E&E Black Pepper Shiraz. In a word = stunning.
