cause it's highly impossible to be both..

as someone who is right most of the time (i generally won't state an opinion until i know some facts) i regularly see the annoyance on peoples faces when i prove them wrong..

it's particularly amusing to see that expression on the face of those people who always want to seen to be the expert on everything..

This is a major perk of working with wine. And I'm not even really a wine snob. I just pretend to be to disguise my crippling alcoholism. I mean, what?

But seriously, some of the self important knobs you get in this line of work are a hoot.

hah.. Used to work in liquor and know just what you mean..

one of my favourite tricks is allowing people to explain fully their position and then provide a small fact that brings it all undone, then ask them to explain how their statement still holds true..

i missed my calling as a barrister..

Meanwhile....

2008 Brands Blockers Cabernet. Doesn't really compare to the Pepper Tree. Not a knock on the Blockers though, the Pepper Tree was ridiculously good. Compared to that the Blockers seems overly sweet and fruit driven. It would be fantastic on it's own I reckon, and we'll probably see that in the next glass or four

How'd you get your hands on '08? Dan's has some as Old and Rare, but thats about it.

Zonte's Footstep Lake Doctor Shiraz 2010. From Fleurieu Peninsula and with 5% Viognier. Very easy drinking, probably drinking it a bit warm at the moment but the quality comes through. Wasn't a fan of their earlier efforts (did get them into my bottlo, but Zonte's never struck a chord with the customers), but this is a very good table wine quaffer.

I got the DM Frequent Drinker Card.

You get a free bottle of Mcuigan The Brothers Shiraz for signing up.

I'm guessing its a cheap bottle of crapola but its free and one simple must taste free wine.

Guess it's time for a drive to Sylvania...

Swing past Sutho and pick me up?

Actually, it's not that bad. Semi regional SA shiraz is usually quite drinkable. Its not for cellaring, but will go down very easily with a good steak.

The value pick for mine is the SYP Chardy or the Murdoch James Taniwha Martinborough Pinot. Both 2 for $20.

Stop it!! I'll go broke!!

I'm eyeing that one off myself. Yet to try it, but if their Cotes du Rhone is reflective of the quality, it will be well worth $25
