Neil McGuigan's The Shortlist Eden Valley Riesling, 2009.

f**king amazing. Lots of citrus, lots of flint, a little bit of hay on the nose (??) - all round brilliant.

Now into the Dorrien Old Contemptibles Tawny. Cracker night...

Teusner "The Independent" Shiraz Mataro 2010. From 3 vintages ago, already on the downhill, a wine to be drunk young (and very good when done so). Pleasant, but that's about it.

Mataro can be either hit or miss in that regard. I would err on the younger side.

Bryson Family Vineyards 09 Shiraz. From Padathaway, jagged this in some mixed case buy a while ago. Very smooth, savoury + sweet Shiraz. Friendly table red.

Heirloom McLaren Vale Shiraz - '12. Smooth, great vanilla, jam and rhaspberry qualities. Just felt it was missing something though.
