Have actually found some awesome Sirromet wines.

The 2012 Seven Series Chardonnay is brilliant and the 2012 Voigner Shiraz signature series was very nice initially but after being opened for a bit it developed a very nice peppery taste as well.

Many of their base level wines can be bland at times so I was surprised at these finds. The Chardonnay especially..

Certainly seems that way. Have a go at either of those two and see what you think.

Tried the normal vineyard selection Shiraz. It was ordinary.

It is very hard to find Sirromet in Sydney. To be honest, the last time I saw it was when I ran a bottleshop on the Gold Coast and people bought it because it was Queensland's wine. At $10 their Cab Merlot did some good numbers for me.

Barwang Granite Track Riesling 2010, Tumbarumba. Fking awesome, sweet lime, orange peel, nice floral high notes, still got fantastic acid. Great choice for my green curry fish!

The old Barwang goes great guns, Baz :)

Went to Mudgee for the weekend. Great whites. The reds were all 'hit-you-in-the-teeth' tannin-centric wines. I can see why they call it 'Mudgee mud'.

Polishing off a bottle of Deep Woods Estate Shiraz, Malbec, Grenache.

Its marvelous. Spicy, peppery, blackberry and cherry. Really good and deserves the bling.

Domaine Lafond Cotes du Rhone. Blend of Grenache (70%) and Syrah (30%). Still very tight, even after an hour of breathing. For a heavily Grenache based blend, at the moment it reminds me more of a McLaren Vale straight Shiraz.

Hoping this wine becomes more vibrant with more air, because at the moment it is a bit run of the mill.

Mt Pleasant B-Side Airport Block Semillon. Went really well with the Pumpkin Soup we had. Nice and acidic, lots of lemon, a little big of lime, pear and fig in there too.

How much McWilliams did you flog before you moved to Woolies?

6 cases worth. Most of it bar some of the icon, premium grade fruit has been drunk. Inhave three 171, three Stents, one Maurice and one Lovedale, one Partisan Grenache, one Zeppelin Ferdinand left that is in the fridge.

An Appellation Chard will be drink in the next year.

The rest is now more varied. Got some Penny's, Icon Dorrien booze, some stuff I've bought from our staff site and a little bit of Teusner floating about.

Cirillo The Vincent Grenache 2012. Meh. A bit thin. Nothing wrong with it, but it's not worth $22.

Illuminati Riparosso Montepulciano. Really good for the $10 price tag. Best wine of the two we opened. Soft, not particularly interesting but plenty of good flavour and body.

I have been described like that more than once, with the exception of the thin bit...

Robert Oatley Great Southern Syrah, '12. Juicy, lots of blueberry, blackcurrant and a bit of cherry, with an undercurrent of spice and pepper. Joyous to drink.

Wallaroo 2008 Canberra District Shiraz. Elegant, dark fruits, really Rhone characters, kinda savoury and smoked meaty, not so much pepper though and more full bodied. Always one of the best value local wineries.

Had a bottle of Teusner Albert 2009 Sunday/yesterday. Ludicrous wine for the money, thick and rich, heavy fruit, powerful oak, surprisingly elegant for the style and the region. Outstanding stuff.
