Underestimated St Helens. We played like it was a trial and St Helens played like a trophy was up for grabs and it was and thanks to a crap performance on our home ground we still haven’t won this trophy!

More concerning though is the signs of the team for the season ahead. Kenny isn’t a 10th of the player Api is while Garner and Hosking aren’t good enough to start for a premiership contending team.

Crichton was terrible but he’s not a fullback. Lol@Bulldogs if they want to play him there next year.

That was always the concern when we rested everyone last week

Disagree

Hoskins looked good all round, great in defence. You need to calm down
Agreed. We are a team in the garage with modifications to be applied. Once we sort that out in two weeks with Soro, Edwards and Marty back, it'll be business as usual.

Looking at the team statistics on NRL.com there was a lot in the game which obviously is reflected on the scoreboard.

The individual player statistics make interesting reading, the established performers appeared to have decent returns.

One debutant in Hosking topped the tackle count with fifty plus tackles and ran for almost 100 metres, played big minutes. The other debutant in Garner according to NRL
.com had three runs for 27 metres, not sure what to make of that.

Hosking is no surprise he is an effort player, Sadly we need some spark from somewhere

We never trial well.

remember when Parra smacked us 36 nil…

hahaha this shit happens every year… we play like busters in the Trials… everyone has a whinge and whine… then we dominate the season and win the comp…

Not the same,

Cleary, Luai and co came back early to pre-season particularly for this game and we didn't fire a shot

This thread has to be pinned as this platforms funniest collection of posts since that thread claiming that the 2005 Wests Tigers would win the spoon. Such a severe lack of footy knowledge and self awareness over 20 pages of smug dribble has been a gift for all readers.
Congratulations St Helens for once again proving who the best Rugby League Football Club in the world is.

The issue isn't he isn't a FGer. He very much like a few workers we have. No Spark though
Give him some games to settle in, Defence is the key early on.

I think he should play on the left with Tago and May.

He’s quality, you can tell

It’s certainly not going to come from Luke Garner, it was all very fanciful when some on here put forward suggestions he could cover the loss of Kik@u. Not bagging the bloke but never in a million years was he, or will he be adequately able to take the place of Kikau.

They’ve been back 6 weeks which is the minimum required in order to play. They were ineligible to play last week.

it’s not like they came back early to put in extras..

We were better prepared last year and got flogged in the trial.

Sure were disappointed mate, not sure about the dribble, people express their disappointment in different ways. Well done to St Helen’s, when the dust settles I’m sure most of us will accept we were beaten by the better team on the night. I’ve accepted It, it is what is we weren’t good enough it’s that simple. We are not the same footy side we were in 2022, some elite losses to overcome and significant depth losses as well. We lost and I’m sure fans of our NRL competitors will take delight from that. All good, that’s footy.

There lies the issue

Garner runs good lines
Martin is a worker
Hosking is a worker

Kenny too has limited spark. Peachey finding his old form seems the hope

You don't think Kenny or Garner could of done with the extra run?

Kenny in particular was playing 30 mins at hooker now to go to 80. Even 20 mins last week would of been helpful.

1 team played their top team last week, 1 didn't and it showed
