Ray Warren - How can you get so excited over a hit-up of ten metres. Doesn't know the rules.

Paul Vautin - Idiot..... oh doesn't know the rules

Peter Sterling - eh... dont mind... but still doesn't really know the rules.

Freeman - Hmmm i didn't know a high tackle could only be done with contact from the arm.. "That's not high, he hit him with his shoulder!" Mr Freeman Souths V Roosters Rd1 2004. And that is true he said that and not hit him on the shoulder...
He is a nice bloke by the way

Funny... none of them know the rules....

But the BEST commentator is Matty Johns for the reason he doesnt try and take himself seriously.

I personally think gus is the worst
For someone so involved in the game he seems to have a quite insufficient understanding of the rules
he constantly pushes forward his point of view and will complain continuously if there was a call that he disagrees with, furthermore he is hopelessly biased towards some teams which really taints the game.

Another point i'd like to add is that i believe his calling is what makes people "turn away" from the game. Personally i think when a supporter is watching the game and whether it be the bunker or a "wrong" call his constant nagging gets inside the supporters head and makes them believe that its a shit call or it is taking too long.

He also goes on about completely irrelevant stuff mid set.

Individually, either Gould or Warren. Hard to judge. But, together, they get the prize, no contest. It's a perfect storm of alzheimer's. Like listening to a couple of drunks, at the RSL, talking s*** during the game on tv, that they're not even watching.

The worst commentator is easily Gus. Can't stand watching channel nine mainly because of him.

I agree with this 100%, a lot of the problems we have with the interpretations in the game come from Gus. Over the years the interpretations he pushes change.

The biggest example I have of this is many years ago I remember him complaining about a play where Gasnier ran behind a player and the defender made the decision to tackle the decoy player. His argument was that a defender should never have to think about or deal with a player who runs behind a teammate. Within a couple of years he was talking about the impact the decoy player had and if the defender had made a decision to engage the decoy runner.

A lot of the problems with the rules of the game have come from Gus

Since I've been watching all the games on Fox this year I'll go with Hadley and Gus.

Just posted about commentary in another thread then I find this one....

I've made the change to Fox this season and I generally enjoyed everything it has to offer, including the commentary. I won't listen to Ch 9 commentary.

However, just recently Kevin Walters has been quite unbearable during certain games (in particular Bronco's games) and I can't stand Steve Roach at any time and he now seems to be on all the time. I like listening to Kevvie on NRL 360 though.

The other bloke I can not stand is Jimmy Smith - in any capacity - Fox or radio. Won't listen to him at all.

Jessica Yates has had a few sideline commentary gigs and atm she just doesn't cut it.

Eddie and stevo from the UK

I'd rather have daryl eastlake talk me through popping an infected pimple on a pus encrusted penis than listen to Braithe Anasta call a game of league

Special mention to Laurie "the spaz" Spina on abc radio calling NQ Cowboys games

He makes terry hill sound like Morgan freeman

I'm f**king pissed off Fox Sports aren't showing the Newtown Jets v Cutters prelim final. They show the first game then couldn't be bothered hanging around for the 2nd.

BTW, Ray Hadley is the worst tv commentator.

Pretty much of all channel 9 commentators.
They are biased, they'll always stick to their teams and I find this incredibly unprofessional.

I don't see this happening in other sports, but US sports commentators tend to be the most impartial imo.

Yeah that was odd because they already had everything setup with all the camera's and crew there. You could even watch the cutters warming up in the background post-match as they wrapped the game up.
