My family were Norths supporters and as a kid I was one. I don't think I could handle going through it again.

yes, i would dump the code in a heartbeat if my club folded - have done in the past and will again if the circumstances arise - i follow souths first, daylight second, and rugby league a very distant third

it depends. If they merged i will support the new team. If they folded outright then i guess it will be hard to concentrate on the NRL but still will follow Origin and Internationals.

Im a selfish fan of my club only.

Id still watch a few games every now and then, especially finals footy and Origin, but id never be able to get into like i can being a Roosters fan.

Never, not a chance - but the interest level would be lessened, definitely.

Are you a supporter of the game of RL or just a selfish fan of your club only?

Discuss.

Yeah I would. Might watch some games on TV but not religiously.

And no, that doesn't make me selfish, it makes me a Knights fan. So how about you shut the f**k up and get off your high horse.

Discuss that.

Nope.

I try to watch every game of the round now, so I don't see why I would stop simply because my favourite game of the weekend is missing.

I'd probably just continue watching the game and a new favourite team would surely develop after a few seasons.

Oh shut up Kalgoorlie. Just because a fan may be upset that their club folded and couldn't watch league for a while doesn't make them selfish. That's passionate.

dumping the code if your team went bust would be like swearing off women if your girlfriend dumped you

if you then started following AFL it would be like switching to homosexuality

If Newcastle folded through natural attrition I'd probably end up supporting another team, maybe the Bears when they come in? But making the transition would be a long process.

If the Knights got kicked out like Souths or screwed over like Norths I would still watch the game on TV, but I doubt I'd bother going to a match unless friends of mine were going and invited me along. I'd just have little/ no enthusiasm supporting a game that didn't support my club.

Loaded question in the first post... and it depends on the definition of "dump".

But I've taken it to mean a massive reduction of interest and participation (financial and time/in person) once your team no longer exists at top level, so I put down a yes :(.

Bravo. Well said.
Personally, my liking for the code would highly go, I am, and always will be a Rooster first. It would also have to be known what the circumstance was.
As for a merger, I don't know either, but that's all I got.

Yes. Because that would be the knockout blow on a game that's getting too soft, harsh and f**ked up from every possible angle.

After supporting the one club for 40 years I said yes but I would probably be one of those "Claytons" supporters that come out around SOO time and when the GF is on.
