As for the Mundine thing, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't his dad Koori and his mum white? I never quite understood the racism calls when viewed from this angle, he would have the best of both worlds surely.

1. He sometimes is a bit selective as to whether he will turn up to training or not.

2. He has an issue with the drink (this causes the above point).

that he likes a drink and can get into a little trouble when on it isn't a state secret. he's been quite publicly indiscrete at club functions with a few too many under the belt. hope he can stay on the straight and narrow because he could be a real star.

As I said it came from within the playing squad.

But as mentioned his misdemeanours are not a surprise to anyone, actually they are common knowledge.

All the player confirmed was that as far as he was aware D.L is staying.

Guys your all missing a major point here, he is NOT up to NRL standard yet its as simple as that. Dont get me wrong i love the guy and wanna see him in the white black n gold but he is the most unfit player at the club, he has zero idea positionally, he gets found out at least once a game, has bad hands & from what i hear has a poor training mentality.

This club has for too many years given out decent contracts to players based on 'potential' which is exactly what got us into this predicament to begin with, we all whinge about how could we be at the salary cap limit with the squad we have but the very simple reason is we keep upgrading contracts on unrealised potential instead of actual form.

If they club feels he is worth $X and he turns it down then good luck to him finding someone that will pay his quote i say.

I disagree Spank - he would be on the bench for me every week, and I would be exercising the clubs option on his contract. When you invest in the potential of the future, you pay unders compared to waiting for that potential to be realised and paying alot more or missing the boat.

You can't always be right, but I'd take a gamble on this kid based on his talent. I know nothing about his off field stuff however, and this would obviously affect any decisions made about him.

We don't seem to be able to get the best out of these sorts of players and personalities. Im not saying it is all the clubs fault, when a player has a bad attitude or other problems it can't be easy.

Anyway so many players have just failed to kick on at the Tigers. They don't improve over the years. You wonder if Laurie was at a different club how his development would be. Im only speculating but guys like Manu, Odonnell, Harrison, Teo etc, were similar type impact players, they didn't last under Sheens.

Top post and I agree totally with your assessment on Daine, all the potential in the world and like many players in the past we have given him an opportunity to realise that for himself within the right environment. However I wouldnt be paying him anymore than he is on now until he can show that he is more than a big hitter with potential.

I asked the player if he thought Laurie was leaving or not, read the post.

At no stage did I heap anything on Laurie, personally I want him to stay, I think he has a certain something.

This is not the high court of Australia, I am not under oath or need to provide my source.

Maybe I was at the Tiger's player dinner two weeks ago and asked the player whose table I was on, they are not mystical untouchable beings who can not be contacted or spoken to.
