He was pretty good. I don't think they should've given him a loss to start though, nor a US title shot - it diminishes the value of it tbh.

Considering Cena's debut into WWE I consider it a nice acknowledgement more than anything else. Wins/losses are often overrated, something WWE creative do often. Zayn losing to Cena but looking good doing it looks better than him coming out and beating some jobber just for the sake of a win.

He did a one-shot appearance with TNA as a guest referee in the Kurt Angle vs Eric Young World Title match. His missus works for TNA again now + Bully Ray would be straight into the main event, whereas WWE don't want to give out any more part time contracts. So if he wrestles anywhere again it will probably be with TNA.

That's what I'm referring to. The guy has all of the cred in the world, so letting a few rookies look good against him is the perfect role for him right now.

The US title challenge matches have been the most fun element of Raw on a consistent basis. I just wish they'd:

a). Stop having people kick out of the AA only to fall prey to the stunner AA. Adding a sixth move to the five moves of doom just feels formulaic;
b). Have a direction for the guys they're making look good against him.
