Conference was kinda crap, couldn't care less about Kinect or the TV integration features. Also, no real gameplay was disappointing.

In saying that, E3 is where it's at and I'm sure we'll see some brilliant games there. Have to admit, I'm preferring the PS4 at the moment but I'm confident that both consoles will be pretty evenly matched once we see more games on both consoles.

Worst console reveal of all time. Even the WiiU's was better.

What a f**king disappointment. Halo 5 better look awesome.

E3 will be the big teller for me. The chances are I'll eventually get both consoles, but the exclusives on show at E3 will be what draws me to which console to buy at launch. Now, I'm an Xbox guy, and I'd prefer to get the Xbox first, but not after that conference, too much focus on the casual gamers. Microsoft need to wake up and learn that their biggest fan base are the people who play Halo, Gears, Forza, COD etc. not some Kinnect bullshit, and they certainly don't care about using their Xbox to watch TV. Luckily E3 is around the corner. However if Microsoft show up and tell me more about awesome TV integration that'll be all but confirming the PS4 as a day one buy for me.

I'm confused at the "won't affect me" comments. Did anyone here buy Diablo 3 or SimCity on release day? I sure did. My internet connection is super, but i still couldn't get on the former for around 2 days reliably, and the latter for about a week. It's not so much the user end that is the big deal, it's server side. If that ever goes down, nobody can play. And what happens when in ten or twelve years you wanna bust out the old NextBox? Oops, Microsoft dropped the servers five years ago, you'll never be able to play it again.
And what happens if the thing gets hacked ala Playstation Network? Sure, nobody could play online, but everyone could still play single player when the servers were down. Not so here, now you can't do a damn thing if Microsoft drops the ball, which as sure as the sun will rise, they will.

This is f**ked, there's no two ways about it. I will get one when the internet inevitably fixes the thing. Just another case of the paying consumer being raped, while the pirate get's it much easier and hassle free.

Pretty much sums it up for me bud...

I'm less mad now.

Don't give a shit about used games now that I think about it, I don't trust those f**kers at EB anyway.
Can still take a game to your mates house if you sign in your XBL account.

Always online... it's a wait and see. Hopefully it's not too restrictive. Sounds like it will be a once a day account check or something for single player games.

Really the biggest disappointment is the focus on Kinect and TV features we'll never see, over actual games. Halo 5 get in me.

So why exactly do we even need a disc? If there is a code with it why not just put it in and download it from the internet since you have to install it that way anyway. If they hadn't put that stupid install thing on it then there would be no risk of people installing it on multiple accounts. If you take care of your game you have it for life, I have no problem with the way it is now.

Maybe to save people with slower Internet speeds having to wait for the game to download?

My brother and I often share games, or split the price. And I borrow games from friends a fair bit. I also buy old games from ebay and EB. I want to know if I buy a used game that was released a few years earlier if I'll have to still pay $100 to install it.

Honestly if once all this shitty tv, kinect, foxtel, voice activation etc that I won't use is stripped back all I'll be buying is a 360 with better graphics I don't see the point.

Have they actually said that it'll be $100 to activate a game?

That seems very steep, considering you could pay anywhere from $5-$100 for a pre-owned game depending on how old, and which store you use.

No. I'm a consumer laggard for sure. I'll get things usually a few weeks later when I know bugs are getting ironed out and prices are flattening out a bit.

No they haven't I was just using an example. I was guessing on the fact that if I buy a game for $100 and install it (meaning I don't need the disc at all anymore), I could give it to my friend and he could install it. I'm assuming if they don't want to lose money it would be around $100 for him to install, otherwise if a group of friends want a game then one of them could buy it and pass it around since it will be less to install it on other profiles.

Or it would likely be the $10-15 that are currently charged for online passes. And once a used game is 'activated' on another system / profile... Then the game won't work on the previous systems. Or they stick with needing the disc to start the game.

What could they possibly reveal at E3 that would make people get excited? Why have a reveal at all if they're waiting until E3?

The last 2 years Microsoft has gone down thus entertainment hub instead of video games for the Xbox. This next console is everything but a gaming console and its inferior to every product that will be available.

Gamers should buy a PS4 or PC.
Apps? My iPhone is much more convenient.
Entertainment hub? Why invest in a smart TV then? and a PC would still smash it out of the water.

All the Xbox One is is voice command and ripping the consumer off

Bad news for gamers - the supposed market - good news for people keen on tech gimmicks.

Sony have a great chance to go ahead of Microsoft in the gaming console war between the two.

As for the exclusives. How many are actually exclusive games and not DLC withheld for a month like it is now? How many are kinnect gimmicks? How many will actually be exclusive and not cross platform? Most Microsoft exclusives suck anyway.

That would be the better option. Keeping it how it is right now would be the much better option.

Looks rubbish, will play like rubbish, the new features are rubbish. Not everyone can afford new games, there's peeps out there who only buy 2nd hand games because quite frankly they don't earn enough $ to buy new ones. This will be XBox's last machine, this is their Saturn (yeah SEGA had dreamcast after but Saturn killed them).
