To be fair that was a great goal.
We had an opportunity to wrap the game up but Marios hit the bar from a spot that was harder to miss then score.
Yes our defence is a problem but didn't think the keeper did much wrong.
Are we still chasing Valdes?

If BR doesn't fix it up he needs to be sacked, I'm sorry. If he doesn't fix it up, it's because his Summer signings failed, and if they fail, it would make his transfer record abysmal. You can't trust a manager to get you back into the top 4 when he needs to sign players while having a shit transfer record.

Yep , BR with his signings have put the club in FFP trouble as well. Lots of money wasted on players that don't play as well. He'll be in deep shit if we don't sort it out quick smart.

Gonna throw it out there...

Klopp's had an awful BL start for BVB (better in UCL though) and has regressed with BVB since the UCL final. There's a feeling in Germany he's taken this crop of players as far as he can and may not be in the job come the beginning of 2015-16.

Just something to think about.

In saying all of this, it f**king hurts to even picture the thought of BR getting sacked. I love the guy.

Yeah true nick, it bloody early to be talking about sacking him as well but we look shocking this year and its all on his shoulders.

After having the morning to cool off, take a few deep breaths and think over the game I'm going to analyse it without all the emotion still running through me.

-We were clearly the better team, we lost the three points from what only could be described as a freak goal. For mine if Sturrigde had of played we already would of had the game wrapped up.
- I thought it was actually the best we had played since the Spurs game. We can obviously still get a lot better but in general we were controlling possession better and actually creating chances
- Lallana had his best game by far, worked his arse off and looked dangerous
- Gerrard may be getting older and slowing down but his ability from set pieces/general passing game is still a massive asset to the team. Some of his cross field passes last night were exquisite.
- Moreno is a gun, really rate this kid. Tackles hard and loves a scrap, he was all over Lukaku like a rash even though Lukaku did get the better of him a couple of times he didn't drop his head. Also importantly he knows how to link up with the attack, has good pace and his crossing is dangerous.
- For the most part Lovren/Skrtel partnership looked pretty solid, apart from clearing the ball better they really couldn't do too much about the goal
- Coutinho looked sharp for the first time since preseason, maybe playing him off the bench for impact is the best way to use him going forward?

Plenty of negatives I could go on all day about, but I saw enough signs yesterday that we are slowly improving and learning to play as a new unit. Don't go giving up on Rodgers yet!

Yes. Into Europa League, via group stage elimination AND finishing outside the top 4, at this rate...

We are 1000-1 to make the top 4 the way we are playing. We can just be thankful that most of our competition this year are also shithouse.

The top 3 will clear well ahead of the rest, then I think it will be tight for fourth between 4-5 teams and hopefully we are one of them

So the Daily Star said we've agreed a deal with Madrid to buy Benzema for 50 million Euros. Bulllllllllshit.

So after that game, one thing is definitely clear to me: the long term Gerrard DM experiment should be scrapped. He needs to be played sparingly, and when played, higher up the field in a CM role or a number 10 role. We have been totally wasting his creativity, guile and final ball back in the DM position.

Henderson also needs to play higher up towards the front line. When freed of all the donkey work, like today, he is capable of a great impact on the goal-scoring and goal-creating front, as such today. His lay-off for Lallana, and his goal were great. HOWEVER, it's only going to work if we have a capable DM playing behind him. Lucas is okay as a short term option, but I'd like to see Allen and Can rotate the role once they're both back. But, who knows, maybe Lucas could set the world on fire in the next few games.

What we need to buy in January is a striker, a strong defensive midfielder, maybe another attacking mid, while IMO Dani Alves wouldn't be a bad signing. He provides great distribution and threat going forward, unlike Manquillo at the moment. If we sign Valdes, Liverpool could become more appealing to him.

Another striker? Really? Like CB, we have too many FWDs at the club. Another striker won't be coming unless we sell. Brendan has just anointed Origi as the next world class striker for us remember :/

The club is top heavy with attackers an if BR was too add more I'd lose even more faith. We need to sort out the defensive issue first and foremost before worrying about anymore attackers. I would've loved us to look at Medel when he was at Cardiff. Went to Inter for f**k all, had an amazing World Cup for Chile and would provide the perfect cover for our Back 4 sitting at CDM.

Much better performance overnight, Lallana was brilliant for us. He and Hendo provide so much work rate for us, they just don't stop running all game. First 2 names chosen on the team sheet for mine. One point you make about Stevie needing to move up the field I completely agree with. He's the only onein the midfield that looks to play forward. Coutinho can GTFO with his bullshit nonchalant attitude. All he does at the moment is hold up our play, or pass sideways or backwards. As soon as Stevie pushed up the linkup play with the forwards started happening.

Not keen on Alves at all. Manquillo might not provide massive amounts going forward but at least he tracks his man and defends. Something Alves hasn't been good at now for years.

Honestly, Coutinho at the moment is doing a really good impression of a 12 year old kid lost at a new school. He is indecisive about every single darn thing he does!!! FFS, he just needs to bite the bullet!

Jack, you do realise that BR is the king of gross overpraise and ego massage? It doesn't matter what he says about any player, it has no bearing on whether they'll actually play or not. For example, Suso. He has subjected the kid to a few great appraisals in the past, yet he struggles to even make the squad in most weeks. So I wouldn't take what he says about Origi with any serious consideration yet.

Based on how Lambert and Balotelli are currently performing, IMO we do need another striker. Mario was actually pretty good when he came on, but Lambert looks completely flustered at the moment, and if he hasn't improved by January, we need to go in for another one. Forget about whether it's unfair on Borini too, he fully well knew that it was already going to be very tough to fight for a regular place in the side, and this was while a number of clubs requested for his services. We can't let the scouse sentiment soften our perspective on Lambert if he continues to play like this until January, because IMO it seems like he's really unsettled by the pressure and excitement of his new environment, and like I said, looks flustered. Additionally, Balotelli plays better with a partner. I also don't think we should be refraining from getting another striker just due to the anticipation of Origi coming back as a near world class player. He's a young lad on loan. He's not a normal squad member who's competing for a place.

With Alves, he would still be a great squad player to have in the team. I wouldn't sign him with a view to give him a regular starting place though.

I don't think we have too many CBs however. We probably did when Agger was at the club, but I don't think so presently. Our regular starting pairing is Skrtel/Lovren, while there's Sakho breathing down Skrtel's neck to keep Skrtel focused, while we also have a squad back up player in Toure who seems more than happy to play that role. That's pretty normal if you ask me. If Sakho is pissed with being on the bench, then so what. You won't find a single top club that doesn't have pissed off bench players.
