I can't see us do any better unless we have drastic changes, and I'm starting to think that won't happen.

All that needs to change is have the team putting in the same effort against the relegation battlers as they do against sides like Manure, City, Chelsea etc.

You'd be surprised how much higher this squad could finish if they aimed the thrash every team lower down the ladder rather than accept a draw...

Lots of rumours about Kenny being fired/stepping down overnight, and more that he basically doesnt have assurances over his position - fair enough also.

Who to replace him with? Roberto Martinez a strong tip at present (which would, I think, be a good appointment). Others available include Rafa, AVB. We arent going to get one of the top quality managers eg Mourinho because we are, frankly, a long way off champions league.

I would like AVB as manager if it meant we could paoch Hulk. Other than that, he is horse shit.

Daglish has been told to move back to his old Football Director role by Henry to clear the way for a new coach.

Capello I doubt. If anything he'll go back to Serie A. FMD if Rafa comes back. That leaves AVB which is not a bad choice. He'd enjoy having far less pressure on him than at Chelsea - after all the only way is up after 8th.

Wouldn't mind seeing Laurent Blanc either.

Little doubt they will have to spend big given Man City intend on buying more players.(and we are miles behind them)
Will the new manager get funds?
He could raise some by selling the dead wood anyway.
Please not Rafa but he's been angling to come back since he left.
Kenny will no doubt be involved in selecting the new manager.
Something I have a problem with.
If they want a new manager they should start with a full clearout.

The job would be very appealing given there werent too many games(especially at home)where the only place we were second best was the scoreboard.
Not too hard to improve on this years results.

My pick for manager would be the special one.
If he could sort our mob out well Id agree he is special.
Has he parted ways with Madrid?
I know they won the League over there but they are never happy unless they win everything.

I am not buying into the whole Martinez story. But, in all honesty, I am have not got a clue who it might be. ESPECIALLY with American owners. Something tells me we wont go "young" (such as Martinez or AVB).

Whoever it is, I reckon they will have to revert to Rafa's style (mid-way through his stint) where we were defensive and boring....but got things done.

What is Martinez's CV like?

Mourinho would be a great manager, but I get the impression he will only go to teams with the most money to spend. Plus, he seems more concerned with stoking his own ego than he could ever be about seeing Liverpool return to their glory days.

Surely returnng Liverpool back to the top would be a fair stroke of the old ego but nah, he signs for sides which have a squad basically ready to go.

Martinez took over at Swansea and got them promoted second year before a successful season in the championship, then went to Wigan. Has managed to get a rubbish squad both surviving and playing reasonable football (although the football has probably made it harder for the to survive sometimes, been vulnerable to getting big scores hit against them).

I like him, he's well spoken and very calm, I think he'd get us playing good football. Might not be ready for the big club/big ego's.

Also to note - Liverpool at the moment have no coach, short of one assistant coach, no director of football, no ceo, no communications director, no head of sports science.

Let's see what these yanks have up their sleeves....

Can't believe guys like Martinez and Rogers are even being mentioned.

Have we learnt nothing from Hodgson? All because a coach overachieves at a small club doesn't mean he can handle the pressure at a larger one.

We need someone who's actually won something at a big club in the last 5 years as it demonstrates they successfully know how to manage a big club. AVB and Blanc fit that category.

It's a shame Emery's already signed for a Russian PL club as he would've been a good candidate too.
