This. You don't need your wireless to be served by the router that is routing your internet connection... you can easily use another wireless AP or even an adsl/adsl2 router with wireless capability plugged into your network.
Then I have two devices and if the Telstra one shits itself further two months down the track, I'm back to square one. Rather one device to do all and if part of it is rooted, then all of it is rooted IMO. I can understand that some would do it differently but it comes down to preference. Also, other people in my household use these devices and they aren't as cluey as you or I. If they have issues and I'm not around, they can ring Telstra tech support without having to explain too much. Once again, understand where you're coming from, but I have to try to keep things simple for those around me.
Standard tech support practice is to blame the device that isn't supported.
