Your NRL controversial take

Teams that are regular bottom dwellers, like the Tigers and Titans should get salary cap exemptions of about 2-3 million dollars for a couple of years to get them off their ass.
Do you really think another 2 million would be enough to help the Tigers?

Another one and probably more controversial

Golden Point isnt great but it's actually fine
The biggest arguement against it is that the extra time period becomes a game of teams playing ONLY to a FG attempt, which ignores that this is exactly what happens between the 70th and 80th minute in a tie game anyways.

Is it good footy? no. But the last minutes of a tie game in regular time isnt good footy either. If that sort of footy is good enough to decide a game in regular time, it's good enough to decide it in extra time
I guess the difference is that even if the last 10 minutes of regular time is tied and turns into a FG-a-thon, to me that feels more organic than what happens in golden point. The other difference when kicking a FG in the last 10 minutes of regulation, is that unless you kick a FG in the 80th minute, there is still some time to be played and the other team will likely get a right of reply. There is some element of risk to kicking a field goal in regulation, whereas in GP it's a no brainer.

Not easy to explain why but GP just feels so much worse than the last 10 mins of a close game.

Penrith Panthers should be forced to merge with Parramatta Eels so that the Parramatta Eels can finally win another comp

Both Origin teams should be announced at the same time so neither state gets an advantage to tweak their team

ridiculous how some teams have been named on Sunday night then the opposition team (both sides have done it) name their squad on Monday
If you're not convinced about who you want to pick at that point, there are no tweaks you are going to make that are going to save you. As the greatest genius of our time Billy Slater says... we'll worry about getting our footy on before we worry about anything else.

It shouldn't be an easy thing to gain mind you, we don't want merkins tanking for cap bonuses, but something nasty like, you had to have won 3 wooden spoons in the last 10 years to qualify. That sort of pain isn't worth it for a club that knows it's already in a position to compete.
The cap isn't the reason why the Tigers are where they are. Giving them an exemption won't improve them to get them away from where they are.

Nah I think we should just give them more money to blow on overpaying blokes to come to a horribly run club. They can pay 3 million a year for Nathan Cleary and really sort their squad out.

It's what the (opposition) fans want!

My partner got her first exposure to Slothfield the other day (I don't watch NRL360, just catch some highlights here and there) and she was amazed that he had a job on tv that wasn't a drunk extra on a show like Shameless.
Buzz is off NRL 360. He is sick . Not feeling too well at the moment. Taking some time Off

The referees were on the right track that season. This issue was how the penalties were given out. Every game ended up 15-14 in penalties given and a sin bin each. They decided to go hard but that penalties had to be distributed evenly. In the end it made it completely pointless, as teams knew to just give 10 penalties away as theyd get them back the next half.
I still maintain if the refs didn't back off in 2018:

1) Souths in the comp,
2) Damien Cook wins the Dally M, and
3) teams would be giving away less cynical bullshit deliberate penalties today

I don’t care for the Origin build up at all. I’ll turn the game on Wednesday night and watch the match passionately but there is now enjoyment in the build up to it anymore.

I find myself caring less and less every year because of all the bullshit lead up. It could be me looking at the past with rose-coloured glasses, but everything now feels so forced. I love the contest, but now it seems so much more focus goes into the week before and the game never matches the level of anticipation manufactured.
