Usual LU logic. The Roosters players are all overrated and crap. Also the Roosters sign all the best players and must be over the cap. To be fair, people like gUt aren't playing with a full deck and they would be the first to admit it.

You 2 do realise he returned to the game post shoulder charge ban and dominated the comp? Or have you completely erased 2013 from your memory?

Nah I remember Ricky Leutele looking like a f**king super star against SBW.

1 season doesn't mean shit. Back it up, then do it again and after you've done that for 8 seasons or so we'll be able to compare you to RL players.

Having problems counting
1, 2, 3, 4, 4 and a half, 5, 6 errrr 10

He played 4 full seasons for the Dogs
Then he left halfway through season

He played 45 games over 2 seasons for the Roosters.

No problems at all.

He played 6 and a bit seasons of NRL over a 10 year period (2004-2014) for a total of 118 games. There was a 5 year gap between his first 4 and last two - you understand what "consecutive" means, right?

AJB...... said SBW wouldn't be any good in a non-shoulder charge league

It's a thread about being over-rated, so in that context I believe SBW made his name off his shoulder charge. Had he began his career after the shoulder charge I don't think he stands out as much and as such wouldn't be as highly rated. Like if Jamal Idris had Cam Smith's haircut.

"SBW is shit" isn't my argument, that'd be silly. But to be a great RL player you gotta be a RL player, not a part-timer.

Boyd Cordner

I know it’s easy to hate him on this forum and the guys clearly a decent first grader. However he is the Captain of our Country? Seriously! The Captains I’ve known since I followed Footy have been:

Wally Lewis
Mal Meninga
Brad Fittler
Darren Lockyer
Cameron Smith

That the absolute top echelon of players of their time

Now

Boyd Cordner

It’s the same as the cricket team going from

Steve Waugh
Ricky Ponting
Michael Clarke
Steve Smith

To

Tim Paine

Well this went as predicted. Multiple posters saying Cordners complete dross whilst Roosters fans acting like over bearing parents who think their ordinary kid is a genius. Truth is somewhere in between.

On SBW how can anyone say the guy isn’t brilliant? If he had of played the majority of his career in the NRL he’d be considered the best forward to have ever played the game.

But he didn't, he did the rugby code equivalent of beating up obese, half-dead drunks masquerading as boxers.

Geez we did well to absolutely dominate the 2013 season with 3 of the 5 most overrated players of all time!

You seem to confuse/associate being overrated with being a shit player.

Boyd Cordner isn't a shit player, but he's nothing more than a half decent backrower. Yet he's now NSW and AUS captain somehow.

SBW isn't a shit player, but he's a part time NRL player who's played one consistently good season in his career. Outside of Roosters fans jizzing their pants over 2013, the past few pages of this thread have only backed up my point about him being overrated. Give me Taumalolo, S Burgess and a handful of other full-time NRL players over SBW any day of the week. Several players have had that one standout year in their career (Barba 2012, Hayne 2009, JT 2015 etc..) - SBW 2013 is just another one of those.

Mitchell Pearce has an origin career longer than Peter Stirling's - lets not get into this one too deeply, the fact that he even played a game for NSW is evidence enough that he's rated too highly.

I'd rate 2007 right alongside SBW's 2013. Williams and Watmough were in a class of their own that year and to score 14 tries proves how hard he was to handle that year.

Cordner didn't live up to his standards (only 3 tries, 2 line-breaks) but he's been consistently strong since 2013. There's very few edge runners with his work ethic and ability to get his team over the advantage line.

SBW would be world heavyweight champion if he stuck with boxing.

He'd be the best bus driver in his district if he'd stuck with that.

Every one of them a useless hack when compared to Shaun Timmins and Mark Riddell
Has Boyd Cordner ever kicked a goal and applauded himself from the stands? I don't think so.

SBW is a great player. If anything he is underrated because of his code hopping and the way he ditched the Bulldogs.

People like to set their own criteria to these things but most people tipped he would be off the pace in 2013 yet he dominated, especially the last half of the season.

SBW was quality every year he played and was a big name when he left for France

Unlike Barba who had two good seasons with some bad ones in between.

The fact you need to mention some stand out players like Lolo and Sam shows he is pretty good for a 'part time' footballer. Even if he isnt as good as those guys there wouldn't be much of a gap.

I get the point you're making, but I'd give Barba 3 seasons.

2011, 2012 and 2016.

I forgot how good his 2011 until I came across his stats recently. 30 Line-Breaks and 23 Tries, exceptional stuff.
