Definitely not living up to the hype.

Predictable right foot step, panicked offloads, bad defensive reads and tackling itself is poor. Not good enough out of yardage. Goal kicking is ok.

As I said yesterday the kid made a few errors but generally he went ok....if we start dropping him now, or return him to the bench for long extended periods its going to do nothing for his confidence or the team ....it was a big arena for him yesterday, picked in the centres in the 13 and playing in front of a large passionate crowd in their new stadium....yes thats first grade footy and hopefully he will learn from it ...just give the kid a fair go in that position and not one of token opportunities....and besides the coach should be looking at players like Aitken and Latimore before he starts lookong at shifting young Zac around

He's young, needs more experience, and over the next few years a bit more beef on him.

First grade experience comes from consistent game time, making mistakes and learning from them.

If we don't give players consistent time in first grade and allow them to make mistakes that they can learn from then we're just cutting off them off at the legs.

Mistakes give us an opportunity to learn and grow from. Footballers are no different.

He'll make a few more mistakes in the coming weeks I'm sure of it. It's all part of it.

Lafai has started to learn to hold on to the ball rather than try the high risk flick pass that would do more harm than good. He is growing into the experience he's been able to have

There was one point in the second half where Lafai was running it out and veered across field. Just as he was tackled Zac appeared to his right and had charged through a gap.
Nothing came of it but if Lafai popped the pass Lomax was away. He has vision and footy smarts.
The team in general don’t seem to have vision for this type of thing.
Vaughan made a line break last week. One player in support and it’s try time.
Nobody there.
Apart from that epic try yesterday we play conversative dumb footy.

I saw this and was hoping Lafai would see him and pop the pass but unfortunately not. The kid has a real crack and can't be faulted for trying. He offered more in that game than Euan has to date so for mine, he keeps his spot. Mary picks and sticks with Latimore week in and week out so why not do it with a talented young centre.

Euan’s no panacea for our backline & has had his time.
Same old.....

He showed little intent & enthusiasm considering his future was on the line yesterday.
Got ragdolled when he ran into forwards - not so Zac

Just watched a replay & thought Zac showed more energy than anyone else for us on the field

He was everywhere, looking for opportunities & offloads to support
- and roving to provide extra cover where possible - beyond his positional role & in last ditch situations abandoned by others.

His so-called errors:

•A ball sticks to his hand in a play the ball

•No one turns up for what should’ve been an inside pass to the try line

•He does a great ballsteal without knowing Aitken’s still got hands on the player

•Was in position to snatch 2 dropped balls

•Tackled strongly - 23 tackles, 3TB

•Threatened the line to within a metre on 3 occasions

•Kicked 3/4 - narrowly missing one

•Always there for other players - he was the first to Corey

He doesn’t deserve such close scrutiny re performance -

Especially considering his raw selection deal since last year’s outstanding semi performances & limited game time afforded over 7 rounds FFS

•I expect Field, Zac & Duff will offer great attacking options

Aitken?
Give me a break!

thought the Dufty try demonstrated signs we can have vision, as with the Hunt try. Lets face it in the end when all is said and done we just piked it in the second half, we thought the game was won, underestimated the opposition and got badly spanked for it - the bench added zilch in fact all went south when the bench players went into battle. Half time speech from the coach obviously didnt inspire a lot.

Maybe the message from the sideline, when we were 14-0, was to protect the lead.
