the more i think maybe we should ignore the security blanket effect bennett is having on the club and stick with a young coach like mary.dont get me wrong the romantic notion of bennett returning and reviving our fortunes does appeal to me,but he will probably bring a host of players with him that are at or nearing the end of their careers at the expense of up and coming talent, and i just get the feeling that his time is now mentality of winning premierships failed miserably at newcastle because its a flawed way of doing things in the current game.coaches like hasler cleary et al are going about it by coming in with 3-5 year plans that are proven methods in the short to medium term and are'nt devastating on the club in the long term and i think if bennett is to come then it should be a condition mary is the successor to take over in the long term if all parties aggree and if not we should bite our lips and pass on bennett give mary the tools to develop the list for the long term that way from a comercial point of view would be the best thing for the club going forward!he has the support of the players the results so far on the field and at the moment what more can you ask for?
Thats a sound post.
Its a commercial gamble either way.
We are also ( i think ) , reliving the Price era too much. IE, just cause he failed, doesnt mean Mary will.
Its cuts both ways.
Where the club is at now, i feel Wayne is best placed to
steady the ship, re-build confidence in sponsors, players and fans. Mary would be well served to work closely with Wayne, as he to date has shown promise in the area of coaching.
Sometimes, one needs to take a step back in order to take two forward.
