Week 1 will be

Storm (1) vs Sharks (4)
Roosters (2) vs Rabbitohs (3)

Broncos (5) vs Panthers (8)
Warriors (6) vs Dragons (7)

Broncos and Warriors may aswell have a free pass to week 2.

The AFL have no MCG fixtures scheduled for the saturday so you would think the storm will play on saturday night. Swans are at the SCG on the saturday so any SFS game will likely be the friday night.

The picture is a bit clearer now. I reckon we will get

Storm/sharks
Roosters/souths
Broncos/dragons
Warriors/panthers

Would be a good result for crowds.

Seems most likely.

Some chance Sharks & Souths swap.

Some chance Panthers/Dragons don't completely lose it next week and don't finish 7th/8th.

Some chance Warriors bring out their bad selves and lose and don't get a home final.

But I agree this is the most likely first week of finals.

Agree. Makes you think a top 4 team or 2 can go out in straight sets and a team from the bottom 8 could win this.

I hope you’re right, but based on past efforts from the NRL scheduling brains trust the exact opposite will happen.

I think it'll be:
Storm / Sharks
Roosters / Souths
Dragons / Panthers
Broncos / Warriors

4 quality storylines there.

found the AFL finals schedule interesting, putting their biggest matchup on a Thursday night

Surely (hopefully) the NRL will look at this when choosing who plays when..
Melbourne has to have a Saturday or Sunday Game to not clash with the MCG
and any game at the SFS should avoid Saturday daytime

yeah it's a shame it isn't a day AFL final at the MCG so the Storm final could of been directly after at night ensuring a bumper sell out crowd.

They will probably go

Friday Night- Roosters v Souths
Sat Afternoon- Storm v Sharks
Sat Night- Broncos v Warriors
Sun Afternoon- Dragons v Panthers

It would make more sense to swap the Storm and Broncos timeslots but that wont happen, got to keep the Broncos in primetime. Ideally the Warriors jump the Broncos and the game is played in NZ so they can swap them

Brisbane can't host on Saturday, Suncorp Stadium is booked out for Australia Vs South Africa in the Rugby.

Likewise Friday night is problematic for the Broncos and Sharks as they both play this Sunday, which would give them the dreaded 5-day-turnaround.

So a Sunday afternoon final is almost a lock if Brisbane finish 5th or 6th.

Brisbane could still miss hosting a game even if they beat Manly.

A close win by them but an easy win by the Warriors will see them jump them.

If Dragons or Panthers win, Broncos finish 7th or 8th.

There are so many possibilities this weekend that it’s hard to also predict when semis will be played.

Only 29 for & against points separate the bottom 4 of the 8, so anything could happen.

Normally I would say it will definitely be the opposite but this is the one instance where the NRL will try and get it right

During the normal season the revenue goes to the clubs, so the NRL doesn't really give a f**k about gate receipts and they pander to the TV stations

However during the Finals series, the NRL gets the gate receipts, so they'll be trying to get as many people through the doors as possible

Of course all the favourites won last week and the week before that so they will this week too, right?

Storm are selling a hospitality package for week one of the finals and the scheduling suggests a Saturday night game. Of course, it also says "date and time is subject to change in line with NRL fixture" but Saturday night seems likely.

Thats interesting
I didn't received an email about this as a member? Isn't there still a chance we can drop out of the top 2 and then not have a week 1 final?

also thats good if it is Saturday, means the NRL hasn't completely lost their mind and scheduled against the AFL on Friday
