    Offsiders

I'm not sure why you lot watch it either. Sunday morning is for sleeping.

Why this NRL ad is simply the worst

Knowing the NRL's luck, the rodeo clown will turn out to be a prominent member of Stormfront or something.

You mean this? Doctor warns of threat of growth hormone abuse in NRL

NRL and AFL go head to head in Sydney's west on Saturday night

That game was shown at 1:05am, to be fair. Otherwise known as the Storm-in-Melbourne slot.

    Thurston holds NRL to ransom

The DT journos must be rather annoyed by the lack of sex and/or booze scandals this preseason, compared to this time last year.

NRL and AFL go head to head in Sydney's west on Saturday night

I wasn't having a go. The AFL does exactly the same thing with its recruits, for the same reasons. It should be a standard part of any professional league's development process.

NRL and AFL go head to head in Sydney's west on Saturday night

So why are they not doing it now?

NRL and AFL go head to head in Sydney's west on Saturday night

Part of the reason is so that there are no shenanigans with contested players being hidden by clubs, or dogging it for testing with a club they don't want to play for. One might also suggest that the NRL would want to get all recruits together for a session or three on handling booze and women...

    Expand World Club Challenge

Sure, why not, schedule more and more games. Pretty soon we'll have NRL players in a game every weekend from January to December, with half a week off for Christmas.

NRL and AFL go head to head in Sydney's west on Saturday night

Just to be clear, I wasn't talking about drafting, just the concept of centralised physical and mental testing, so that all clubs know credible information about potential recruits.

RL independence day arrives - NRL Independent Commission announced for November 1

Frankly, I couldn't give a bugger at this point about pointscoring over who's in the right or wrong. If the QRL agree to the NSWRL compromise over having veto control over constitutional changes, then it's a good outcome by all.

NRL and AFL go head to head in Sydney's west on Saturday night

Brennan plays for Brisbane, indigenous lad recruited from NT. Naitanui is the humongous Fijian kid drafted by West Coast a couple of years ago. NicNat is a freak. Draft testing is where the AFL calls all the major potential kids likely to be recruited in that year's upcoming draft to a camp...

NRL and AFL go head to head in Sydney's west on Saturday night

Actually Folau hasn't reached 40" in the running vertical jump, but both Jared Brennan and Nic Naitanui reached it in their draft testing.

NRL and AFL go head to head in Sydney's west on Saturday night

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the whole idea of limiting rugby league interchanges based on the idea of the bigger players not being fit enough to offer maximum performance across 80 minutes, thus giving the smaller blokes a chance to break lines? Thus the stink when interchanges were...

    'downtown' rule

Sure, that's what rugby league needs... ELVs to make the game more like union... :sarcasm:

Looks like the QRL has seen sense, this is an excellent development.

Should the NZRL get a grant from the NRL?

If there was no NZ team in the NRL then there would be about as much incentive for them to watch it as they would to watch the AFL... i.e. nil.

RL independence day arrives - NRL Independent Commission announced for November 1

This is the sort of infighting that the IC is supposed to stop. Rugby league has been built on factions permanently waging war against each other where no innovation is left unpunished by those whose turf is threatened. It is long past time that this schism-based thinking was left behind in the...

Should the NZRL get a grant from the NRL?

If the Warriors get $4m but the NRL gets $8m from NZ TV, then the answer is not to increase the Warriors' grant, but to install another NZ team to get another $4m grant. That way you'd probably increase the NZ TV rights anyway, with one home game each week.

Now there's an idea, maybe Sheedy can sign Kewell.
