Nah, a deal has been done mate, we just have to wait for the announcement to confirm the terms.

    fairfax say 1.175 includes telstra

Next TV rights deal part 2

Sounds like the 1.175bn includes Telstra, so the deal is 1.8b with the chance to hit $2bn with naming rights & NZ rights. Seems a bit low considering they are getting this friday 6pm game

Next TV rights deal part 2

Wish the NRL had have announced something instead of all this speculation that becomes facts for more speculation.

Next TV rights deal part 2

You would have to think that there's more to the deal than just $1.8bn over 5 years if it's taken them the last 24hrs flat out to negotiate to a point that they can announce something.

Next TV rights deal part 2

As long as it doesn't cover seven years, because we are already getting 200m pa for the next two years from nine, fox and Telstra. Subtract the 400m we are already getting from 2.1bn and its suddenly only a 1.7bn deal over 5 years. Hopefully it's like a 5 year deal + an increase in the last two...

Next TV rights deal part 2

there's bound to be details we don't know about, don't judge it until after it's announced by the NRL.

Next TV rights deal part 2

anything short of $2bn+ for all rights properties will be disappointing imo, which means we need this deal to get very close to 1.9bn.

Next TV rights deal part 2

telegraph claiming it's only 1.8bn before international rights, also claiming telstra paying only 150m/5yrs

Next TV rights deal part 2

Was reported there may be 5 sat night games at end of the year on Nine.

Next TV rights deal part 2

yep, although now probably three games. but those streaming rights were non-exclusive, the subscriber rights could still be sold. I think Roy is playing catchup and is probably light on details.

Next TV rights deal part 2

would imagine that doesn't include international rights since they haven't even begun negotiations, which means we will probably end up around ~$2-2.02bn.

Next TV rights deal part 2

Maybe they will only get five Friday 6pm games at the end of the season, as a compromise for Nine retaining five sat night games, and the rest could be Sunday night.

Next TV rights deal part 2

I think Newscorp preempted it with this Friday 6pm game, allows them to save face by claiming the deal had changed.

Next TV rights deal part 2

I think the NRL are giving themselves a year to work out how to schedule it, giving us a bit of a stopgap draw next season before a 6 year cycle incorporating 6pm friday. Might even see a mixture of Sunday/friday night STV games with the majority of the friday games played in NZ, which could...

Next TV rights deal part 2

it's always usually announced to beat expectations, I think they will push it closer to 2bn than 1.85, before international rights.
  19. I

Next TV rights deal part 2

my feeling is it's definitely on and a deal will be announced within hours rather than days.
