Next TV rights deal part 2

Nine asx announcement said no deal has been done on any transaction, but I think wiedler is right and it will be done today. Not sure how bringing it forward will impact broadcast revenue in the next two years, since both nine & fox would be giving something up they arent likely going to pay...

Next TV rights deal part 2

they did in 2013, then reduced them to a handful of games in 2014 & 2015. it's not just about the 6pm game, it's about the game that follows, the 6pm game could be thought of as an entree.

Next TV rights deal part 2

Depending on where they are played I think they could avoid the games overlapping, fox want it because it builds their audience for the simulcast nine game that would follow it on friday night, essentially giving them a sixth game & eating into Nine's audience. Traditionally Sunday night hasn't...

Next TV rights deal part 2

We know the SAT game is allegedly worth 35m pa & simulcasting 25m pa, while earlier articles speculated the other four games were at 130m pa with the NRL unhappy with that number. So that's 190m pa, if it's going to end up at 2.2bn with fox putting in 1.175bn alone then the NRL has to get an...

Next TV rights deal part 2

Isn't that exactly what they told everyone a week or two ago with their 'proposal' announcement? Somehow I doubt it will work out so neatly, especially since they are still negotiating.

maybe little lachlan wants a big moment in the sun to assert himself and get out from under the shadow of old long balls. Sends a message after rupert's performance at the AFL presser.

Gus is essentially saying that is for Nine and Fox only, not including digital or NZ.

Next TV rights deal part 2

lets just hope Gus is right, wouldn't be the first time he got his wires crossed.

Next TV rights deal part 2

I doubt they have done the NZ deal yet so maybe clubs have been told likely total of 2.2bn, once finalised.

Next TV rights deal part 2

    IF Gus is right: Fox = 35m p.a. SAT + 25m p.a. simulcasting + 175m other four games = 235m p.a. = 1.175bn/5 years Nine = 125m p.a. = 625m/5 years Total TV = 1.8bn Telstra/NZ = ~400m/5 years Total Rights = 440m p.a. = $2.2bn/5 years

Next TV rights deal part 2

Just going by the article the maths don't add up, 25m pa simulcasting & 35m pa sat game means Nine paying just 625m/5 yrs, and if the entire rights deal is allegedly worth 1.8bn, including Telstra & NZ, it means fox would be paying shit all for the other four games.

Pretty sure Lachlan is in the country.

Next TV rights deal part 2

That is a 'bonus' payment of $3m over the next two years, but it's somewhat seperate from the funding negotiations where clubs want the grant increased to 130% of the salary cap, presumably by next season.
  19. I

Next TV rights deal part 2

I think the funding would kick in as soon as next season
