Broncos V St Helens match thread

NRL=24 game regular season SL+CC=33 game regular season Could the likes of Saints, Bradford etc... adapt to a shorter more intense season at NRL standard and be successful? Given the apparent closeness of the leading teams in head-to-head competition I don't see they'd have much trouble at all.

If I was you I'd drop a note to the management at Storm suggesting they try a little harder next year:)

Broncos V St Helens match thread

Yes you can, to an extent. We're comparing the two best sides and English clubs consistently win and have also picked up notable wins on Aussie soil. Certainly in terms of depth the NRL is far stronger and nobody in their right mind would dispute that. But the top sides in each comp are closer...

    Fielden an honest man

To be far Mason had a better TN than Fielden. Both were poor though, by their own standards.

    Fielden starts boxing career

Spot on, and not because of the cowardly Mason ambush either. He was generally off form and crap. Tried to defend him after the first GB-Aus game but should have been obvious he wasn't firing. He shouldn't have gone on tour because we left decent pack players back in GB that could have done the job.

    Lay Off Sean Long

Spot on mate. As a Brit I'm ashamed this has happened - he only had to stick it out for another week anyway :( . The biggest fear is that Noble is going to go for some insane team selection that's going to turn already certain defect into another 60 point drubbing.

Has this Tri-Nations done more harm than good for league

A thumbs-up from Cujo. Obviously GB still have loads of ground to make up on SH sides especially in terms of consistency but I'd rather we were playing these matches than not playing them. On the media side in the UK there has been a minor improvement in coverage/interest but it looks like the...

    Reality time

We have to be realistic about the player pool and why there might not be enough talent to support even the existing 11 English clubs in GB (never mind 14) if we were to reduce the number of imports. Australia, 250,000 players, 15 NRL clubs England, 60,000 players, 11 SL clubs NZ, 30,000...

    GB vs NZL = FARCE

Don't agree. There wasn't a single shot where BOTH hands can be conclusively proven not to be touching the ball. For a split second on the side view his right hand wasn't touching the ball for sure but in that same shot his left hand is out of view behind the ball. If as you say the front-on...

    GB vs NZL = FARCE

The only angle that cast doubt was from the side and even on that all of Raynor's left hand was not visible. On balance it should have been given.

    Cheap Shot Mason

Aye, since he lost that feckin ridiculous hairstyle he needed something else to scare people with. Seriously though he's got enough as a footballer to not have to resort to that kind of thing. He let the biff mist seriously ruin his footy against GB.

    Cheap Shot Mason

You deaf? I repeat: Cut through your pitiful defence like a knife through butter not long after.

    Cheap Shot Mason

Didn't do him much harm. Cut through your pitiful defence like a knife through butter not long after.

Enjoy it while you can Poms

So he told you a few awkward home truths. No need to throw the rattle out mate

    Cheap Shot Mason

Underestimate him at your peril. As I said - Given the relative quality of the packs at the moment  believe me Aussies have no place to get all high and mighty ;-)

Australian team for their next match against Great Britain in two weeks

Me neither. The only problem will be if they replace Mason with a competent player

    Cheap Shot Mason

Then got up and played a crucial role in a pack that battered your sorry arses all over the park. Given the relative quality of the packs at the moment  believe me Aussies have no place to get all high and mighty.
