Sure I do

but we know the Perth govt would never spend that kind of money on a league team so the point is moot

imagine tasmania can come up with this kind of money and Perth won’t
are you nuts? It doesnt put that much money into NSW grassroots!

How do we? Has anyone asked them?
We are sitting on a $10bill budget surplus. Nows not a bad time to demand Burswood stadium or HBF upgrade, a CofE, sponsorship of the womens NRLW side and guaranteed funding for grassroots RL in WA. Thats the list Id have presented them with.

you're right, we don't NEED one as bad lol Weve got plenty of top flight sport, unlike Tassie

I wouldnt expect any State Govt to be directly funding a professional sports team, its a very questionable use of tax payers money.
The other stuff is reasonable and has community benefits as well as benefit to the sport and club.
WA Govt seem super keen on getting an NRL club, theya re spending time and money scoping it.
Have we hit them with a list of things we'd like to see to make that a reality? Now's the time (in fact should have been 6 months ago) the NRl should be presenting them that list. If it hasn't its incredibly poor management of the game, again.

The reality is wa ain’t spending 750 million on a new stadium

and the afl stadium in tassie is in better condition than hbf park is

if the was govt built a totally new ground it would make a massive difference to a Perth nrl team

hbf park is way better than the waca but it’s still very dated and it looks like crap

you'll get no more argument from me about how amazing a 35k stadium at burswood would be for all rectangular sport here. That should be option 1 on the list! If Govt baulks at that, and they will having juts spent $150mill on HBF then option 2 is finish HBF park. Probably a $200mill spend.
Then it will be a cracking well located 25-30k stadium with all the corporates needed.
Has the NRL even had the conversation???

Its far from a dump and I can tell you've never been.

And never will

5 hours on a plane is too much for me just to watch a league game

esp when I can spend an hour driving and pick anyone one of ten grounds near me lmao

and it looks like crap you don’t need to visit it to see it

Youre missing visiting an amazing part of Australia. Catching an NRL game whilst here is just the cherry on top!

You're subjective opinion. It is far better than some, on par with others and way behind the new stadiums.

One decent stand

3 other mismatched stands

there are 3 tenants

build a commbank or cowboys stadium
Its got two decent stands, nothing wrong with the south one but a roof would benefit it. Its great location, great public transport options, parking options, near by bars and restaurants. Build a west stand, build a proper terraced North stand and roof over south stand and we have us a cracking stadium.

but yeh if they want to splash $500mill on a new 30k stadium at Burswood I wouldnt say no!

But we digress from the actual point, have the NRL actually demanded anything from the WA govt?

Many a word said in jest! But yeh thats literally the only peep we've heard out of the NRl on the subject. Now compare that to AFL in Tassie where they have a list of demands the Govt needs to meet and they are publicly saying they are willing to invest significantly as well.

Vlandys has a perfect opportunity to get a willing and able WA Govt over a barrel for massive betterment of the game and their response is 'go talk to the Bears'. Our game is so screwed lol.

Maybe, has the NRl demanded one? Have they even spoke to them about what they want to see for a Perth club to be admitted? Or was it go see the Bears and thats it? Wouldn't surprise me! NRl is clueless on these things

Not going to happen. Ipswich tho..

$643mill to $402mill and sht load more in sponsorship would suggest you may be wrong there.
I don't argue that they are better administered, better spread across the country and better at negotiating deals. What I do know is that if the AFL were the dominant code in NSW and QLD and us in VIC, SA & WA, we'd be almost obscure because if they had the geographical advantage and their administration, then game over.

The way it stands now, if the NRL can get their act together, they have a huge geographical advantage to capitalise on more than they have ever done before. If the NRL becomes a truly national brand, sponsors will flock to NRL clubs, because nothing creates a brand impact in NSW and QLD like an NRL team. The AFL can only dream of that impact. It is not going to come from the Lions, Suns, Swans or Giants.

If the WA government doesn’t come to the table with something big like a stadium, I can see Perth easily missing out to another franchise. And then who knows how long it will be before Perth gets another shot? Not that I agree with Perth missing out but if you think I’m joking, just remember how risk adverse the NRL are.

and are sweetening the deal by investing $120mill of the games money in grassroots in Tassie and player development. That's how you get Govts over the line!
Meanwhile NRLWA gets its funding cut and still no sign of an NRL team unless Sydneys involved lol

ps pretty sure its the Tassie govt driving this, not the AFL asking for it. I'm confident the AFL would much rather not have byes and a struggling regional club.
It's pissing money up against the wall. Tassie will be less profitable and do less for the AFL than the useless Suns and GWS. But like you say, you can do that when you have the money. Doesn't mean it's smart business though. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.

Tassie offers nothing to the afl in terms of crowd averages, tv viewing numbers or participation, yet our miserable friend can see no fault in his idol Gil. If the nrl did something similar he’d be whinging his miserable ass off.

afl good
Nrl bad

Gil is god
Peter is Satan

it never ends
