So, read the posts,Not that difficult. Long term was mentioned. In PNG's case, I have forecast the long-term development of players will be 77 centuries.

Although I know you are of the delusion that PNG will start producing NRL quality players against the fact that they've produced 2 or 3 in 50 years. (We're talking about players born and raised in PNG).

Are you talking about their capacity to think as in IQ, or are you talking about past developments that couldn't really go further unless a current club took a chance on these hunters, now they won't need to wait for them, they'll just be nrl calibre at some point obviously not straight away, but atleast within 2-3 years

2 to 3 years? You're off your trolley.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on PNG.

Tbf to them, PNG Hunters is not their national team. They do have a few players in the NRL like Justin Olam, Xavier Coates and Alex Johnston. And also a few players in England like Lachlan Lam.

In a nutshell, they probably have to recruit their entire national team. Question is would those players want to live or return to PNG?

Head coaching position could go to Adrian Lam. He has done ok in England. A person to consult or set up the pathways could be someone like Wayne Bennett. And once again, would Lam and Bennett want to do it?

With the pathways, PNG has to get it right. For players to come through, it may take them 2 or 3 years, 2 or 3 decades or to follow Always Green's logic, 2 or 3 centuries.

If they don't get the pathways right, then the club has no future.

Coates has said he has no interest in playing for PNG. Reckon others who did not grow up there like him would have little interest in moving there.

It will take a lot longer than 2 - 3 years, perhaps a decade or two before even half the squad is locals. It will be a motley crew of NRL mercenaries playing for PNG initially. It they can last beyond the 10 year funding, they may have a long term future.

Still, it seems insane to give a licence to a place that has never even hosted a game. As With many government announcement, it may never actually happen.

We are all just guessing, but this will be a very interesting watch. It the NRL can actually run a successful team in a third world country, that will certainly be its greatest achievement.

It will be Wayne Bennett with lam as an assistant

that will be the key to successfully launching the club

I wouldn't mind PNG be based in Australia in their first decade and then move permanently back at home. That way it gives them time to produce local players.

When you consider even Fiji has hosted a NRL trial, but nothing NRL related has even been played in PNG it certainly rings alarm bells imo.
NRL clubs know that there is no money to be gained in taking games there, that’s why no NRL games have ever been played in PNG.
Yeh the different nrl rules vs tests and qld cup will only serve to incite the crowd into riots
