No it hasn’t

they get 10 percent more than us with 40 percent more content

They are carrying two clubs (soon three) that will never be financially viable

they are literally an example of what not to do
Most of the NRL clubs were not financially viable until the grant got significantly increased.

They make massive profits now so does the arlc
because the grant was massively increased, at the expense of investment in other areas
you cant say AFL clubs would be unviable without the grant when exactly applies to most NRL clubs

The afls problem child’s are going to need ever increasing funds to stay afloat (tbf I should’ve included the lions so that’s four dud clubs)

And the sport is boring as bat shit to watch but they've somehow convinced millions and broadcasters that it isn't

And if they don’t agree they don’t deserve a team

rugby league should get what afl get
deserve? strange word to use.
More like would they be viable without a certain level of Govt support, and if the answer is no, then no they shouldn't place a club here. Or anywhere else where a club isnt going to viable long term.

NRL has a golden opportunity, maybe a once only one, to get the WA Govt to offer some significant supports for a new club and the game more generally in WA. We can only hope they are going to play it right and realise that opportunity in the same way AFL has done so well in Tassie.

Well based on the ratings gap if I was an afl person I would be really worried the future isn’t going to be so rosy

a ratings gap which is growing every year

maybe, maybe not. They arent spending more on their expansion clubs than they are on some heartland clubs who also need extra funding.

So whatever crumbs the wa govt give is ok even if it’s not as good as what the afl got

lmao

The ratings gap has been there for over a decade, when it comes to tv deals it hasn't helped us so far.

Nah it hasn’t been realised until now

most of the viewers were hidden away on Telstra digital

the articles were showing declining fta without showing huge migration to Telstra digital then kayo

now we have all the figures the situation is clear

we beat afl by 30 million last year

this year will be close to 40 million

Adding tasmania will do basically nothing for afl ratings meanwhile nrl will look to team 18

All the more reason the broadcast rights situation should be switched

But it's clear as day that RL has never been great at negotiating

And the issue now with Vlandys making demands from governments is they'll probably just call his bluff, as he's continually threatened to take the GF away but likely never will despite not having the demands met (happy to be proven wrong if he actually does)

we dont need what the afl got. We wont get what the afl got becasue the NRl isnt as good at its job as the AFL is.
But we should be going for as much as we can get.

And we should have a minimum we ask for if they want Perth to be guaranteed the next club in. If WA govt dont come to party then perth is not guaranteed and goes into the mix with other areas. Thats what id be telling McGowan.

Their money is in the bank. And your the one who keeps going on about content amount lol
Ratings SHOULD drive our PTV deal massively, but it hasnt yet. Like I keep saying next deal outcome will come down to competition, not content or ratings.
