Nor is location irrelevant to a bid. It is actually a key aspect of a bid: demographics, population and growth rate, income per capita et al would factor in the business case and the ability of a club to grow.

The argument that somehow a bid is seperate to the location is rather perverse.

Those factors in theory would instantly rule in any major city in the world.

So I think they are minor considerations

South’s were failing when they came back in and George Piggins was running them

People have short memories lmao
I think I clearly established that fact. The amount of relocate to the CC articles there were back then was amazing. And again, they got their shit sorted.

So they should’ve moved to central coast then

lmao

maybe there’s a lesson from south’s being kicked out and coming back and being stronger that you are missing

Have to be Jets
Keep the colours
1 game in Sydney

Compares almost identical to the Bears, This came from the Perth side. So it can't be accused of Sydney media or PVL pushing it
No juniors

without the feeder club from Cronulla or roosters they would be weak af

I disagree with it being a minor consideration: you should have sides where most of the population is or going to be and where they can properly support a side

Maybe the branding solution would be to ADD one colour to the team for the NRL side (say, orange or green?)...

Perth Jets.

Home jersey - Orange (or green) with blue & white trim

Away jersey - white with orange (or green) & blue trim

Sydney jersey (for away games in Sydney) - the traditional Newtown strip, blue jersey, white trim.

Pop size loses relevance if the market is already owned by a cashed up rival

Jets jersey and logo are good
Jersey, sure - unless they're playing the Warriors & Roosters or Parra in their mostly blue strip.. and a game of Jets vs Bulldogs wouldn't be particularly visually appealing either.

Borderline "contrast clash" with other dark-jersey teams like Storm, Panthers, Cowboys & Tigers (given Tigers habit of wearing black) too.

TL: DR version do we really need more "Royal Blue" dominated kits in the competition?

Using that criteria, Townsville, Canberra or Newcastle wouldn't have sides

Yeah, redcliffe 30k members & counting. Meanwhile, dockers corporates show Perth will struggle in an afl city
Redcliffe I'm rapt in those figures no arguemnt. All I'm suggesting for example If Ipswich given the go ahead, they are called the Jets, Newtown(jets) if they were desperate to fit in could be absorbed into that west Brisbane club.

Easts Tigers can't use that name, taken by Wests Tigers already. If Bears so desperate to get in somewhere as a minor partner (if they can't get into Perff), then Easts if they make the NRL then use the Bears logo.

Look it's out of left field stuff I know, but sometimes things happen not the way we want.

Sponsorship in WA ,can't answer that one but for the NRL with the commercial strength of east coast cities that could induce national companies.Bearing in mind only 1 NRL club not two AFL clubs competing for sponsors.

If the Perth Reds/Pirates/Pumas/Pretenders/Poms can't get decent sponsorship, they should rack off now.

The Jets jersey is a brilliant design. Did they have an alternate?

I agree they probably wouldn’t be. Nor would we have Manly or Cronulla or a few other Sydney sides based in small population areas; but it is what it is.

Nevertheless, the history of the competition and the sport shouldn’t entirely guide the future

Only if you think you have nothing to offer them. I have a feeling we are going to go around in circles here but new engaged audiences are beneficial (relatively speaking of course)

Not sure if they did when they were originally top-tier, but they've had a mostly-white alternate/away jersey in the 2nd tier.

I think the NRL needs to consider things like the spread of colours in the competition when it comes to bid identities, though.. and one of the great things about the Dolphins is that they certainly have a distinct niche in the NRL's palette with their look.

the report says they still will host a game in Sydney. So same as what the Bears want
Difference is jets don’t actually offer anything. No jnrs, no fans, no corprorates, no pokies. Aside from knowing how to run an old school event on a grass hill they really aren’t in much of a position t9 demand anything. Of bears, Blacktown and a plethora of qrl cup clubs they really do sit at bottom of the attraction ladder.
