The Storm's best season drew 20,924. That included one "home" game at Lang Park. Take away that game and the Storm's average drops down to 18,263.

Victory are more popular than Storm in Melbourne. Soccer is bigger than rugby league in Melbourne. 25 years of sustained success hasn't changed the status quo.

After one season, the Dolphins have a larger supporter base than the Storm developed over 25 year.

What do you think that tells you?
The Victory haven't been a bigger drawer then the Storm for a while now

And to say City draws big crowds is outright bullshit. They are one of the lowest draws in all of Australian sports.

And what about your precious FTA TV ratings, how's the Victory and City fair?

Also, you keep bigging up Lang Park as the home of the Tigers, yet they had f**k all to do with its modern upgrades, but the Storm were a major tenant of AAMI from Day one.

The first ever event held at AAMI was a game of RL.

"Pirates has to be the next team. They tick all the boxes for what the game needs."

He also, in a past life, was vehemently opposed to a PNG side because quite sensibly he saw the financial problems in having a side there.

Now seemingly he is all for it.

Maybe he changed his mind because he read the articles about how much money was being pumped into it and realised it’s a slam dunk ?

you know as new info comes out people can change their minds

given people can’t answer his questions properly that’s for the best

almost 30 years the storm have been in the nrl
what questions? Storm are doing well on many metrics, not so well on others (juniors, local fta tv ratings), but if you think they are dragging down the NRL and the reason not to expand to Perth then you are a complete f**king idiot.

Where’s the evidence the storm have added to our tv deals

the dolphins have

why expand to afl states if it produces no real juniors and adds nothing or next to nothing to tv value

just to copy afl ?

now the storm are trying to claim a part of qld as theirs lmao

don’t you get tired of the AFL merkins expanding into the Northern States and the NRL just defending all the time?

Got to do something positive in respect of expansion into their territory… although it PNG is team 18 and not team 19 then Perth looks 10 years away

Like the Germans who were seemingly unbeatable in ww2 until they bled to death in Russia

afl has overextended itself in qld and nsw

dolphins will harm afl more than a token nrl club in Perth who are dwarfed by the afl clubs

qld is the afl operation Barbarossa

GWS is a mistake … but the Swans and Lions aren’t …

Jury is still out on the Suns…they haven’t had much success but the Gold Coast is full of Victorians and South Australians..

I note the AFL don’t seem to be having troubles getting juniors through NSW and QLD into the big time…compared to say Victoria 25 years after having an NRL team..

Lions are too

basketcase

swans got lucky with super league mergers and culls

in terms of juniors there was a study in western Sydney and afl ranked last

Yeah … Only two thirds of the population live outside “Western Sydney “‘.
so they steal a few kids that would’ve played for the wallabies lol

easts junior area is pitiful
South’s juniors is massive
North Sydney was always weak after the demise of the bears and being union stronghold

the kids you want to target a working class areas where the population is booming

is west and south west Sydney

Playing union as a kid doesn’t stop you playing NRL as an adult … playing AFL as a kid does
