But but but passion, fans, jnrs.
Shame none of them will cover the $15mill a year they will need to raise, before we even get to how they will build a team willing to play there.

Fans are only good if they can afford to watch them play, either on TV or at the ground.

Anyway, if PNG were somewhat close to a first world country it would be a no brainer (and amazing)

You questioned whether Brisbane needed a second team all last year. Ppl who've been around here long enough know what you said
Did I? I’ve questioned if brisbane2 is expansion or consolidation, Ive questioned if brisbane2 will take away from broncos, and I’ve questioned if dolphins were the best choice as a genuine brisbane2 side. But not sure I’ve ever said brisbane shouldn’t have 2 clubs.

comment from June 2019 for example when brisbane2 was starting to get mentioned.

yep, ridiculous the nrl only has one Brisbane team. Way overdue, if it happens which I have massive doubts about. I also question the real value of only adding one team and not adding two to create extra content to sell.

Threatened much?!

yeh the way he’s posting you would think a Perth nrl will be financially stable
With the annual grant at 130% of the salary cap and plenty of rich businessmen behind the Pirates bid, there's no reason it cannot be financially secure. Our game would benefit massively from having a team in Perth. It will produce a genuine rival for Melbourne and path the way for a WA vs Vic Origin series. It'll never be in the same sphere as QLD vs NSW, but it will give Victorians a genuine reason to choose RL over fumbleball and encourage the ARLC to grow the game at the grassroots level outside of Queensland and NSW. An annual NT vs ACT series would be good, but needs a Darwin-based club in the Queensland Cup to become feasible. Ideally you would want to align NT and WA with Queensland and push ACT and Vic towards NSW.

Yeh, shaking in our boots lol.
PNG budget deficit $2.4billion. WA budget surplus $7billion. Hmmm.
With that much money, maybe buy the toronto wolfpack, ship them to perf, and bid for a licence... oh wait cant do that... buy some junior coaches and train your pirates on how to win games... wait cant do that either... what can perf do, other than throw money at the NRL... i know ...buy a state of origin ticket! Booyah

Lmao Vitoria can’t even produce 17 nrl players.
Meanwhile back in the real world
that seals it

by adding Brisbane 2 then nz2 they picked the two best locations available and offer huge expansion for the code

once they bed down it will be another Brisbane team then Perth

Rugby league in Victoria has consolidated a lot recently. Now has three comps, 25 clubs over 180 teams not including rep teams and school comps that are growing in the western suburbs. The storm has made a difference there and the game is now 100% storm oriented. Perth has a similar structure with no nrl team and is ripe for expansion. NZ is a no brainer with Union on the nose. 20 teams logically will have NZ 2 Perth and in my view PNG.

If this is the plan: that they expand to a big market in Australia, then expand to an area that has potential to increase the talent pool, then it‘s brilliant. Based on the article, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and that it might be their idea.

NZ 3 might be an option in ten years or so, if they really go hard at NZ 2 and make inroads.

They need to really help both NZ 2 and the Warriors poach some Union talent to make this work.

I hope all these media announcements mean just that.
It just goes to show how much untapped potential we have and the afl doesn’t have. Their failure in Wellington was laughable. We have local and international markets to expand into.
They have Tasmania hahahahaha!

...well come to think about we could have Tasmania too, if afl keeps on shunning them
