Penrith's success is built off the back of the good fortune to have one of the world's biggest RL nurseries. Good luck to Panthers and Roosters, both have leveraged their strengths well. You play the hand you are dealt
I don't know if you can call it good fortune when Penrith have unilaterally expanded their juniors nursery to include basically all of the most populated parts of Western NSW over the last roughly two decades, and sent themselves broke in the process of doing so and needed bailing out BTW.
I actually think that their real stroke of good fortune was the the introduction of the 6 again rule, and all the nonsense associated with it, which, by pure chance, fundamentally changed the game in a way that suited teams with a makeup like the Panthers at just the right time for them, but that's a slightly different discussion.

Playing the hand you're dealt is all well and good, but it's hard to argue against some sort of intervention when it's gotten to the point where it's literally undermining the integrity of the competition. The whole salary cap has been outdated and needed updating for a very long time now.

And the fact they are in a cheap housing region where many PI families have moved to. Panthers have finally tapped into the massive advantage they have. Only taken them 50 years.
Lots of islanders in Dubbo and Bathurst

the 1927 the addition of new clubs it took on average 50 years for the clubs to win a title

20 of the Roosters 34 first team squad have made their nrl debut for the Roosters. Another myth Like them not having any fans.
Debuting for a club doesn't necessarily make one a junior of said club in real terms, and poaching as many top prospects as possible is still poaching.

The fact that they poach players isn't the issue anyway, that's just a reality of the sports business. The real issue is that they, and a handful of other clubs, have massively outsized advantages in the players market because of their location and access to third parties and corporate business that significantly impacts the competition. An impact that the salary cap has totally failed to address for a long time now even though that is one of it's intended purposes.

It's by no means the only issue with the salary cap, or competition balancing in general, that the NRL faces and has left in the too hard basket for way too long now, but it is a significant one.

That would create significantly more problems than it solved, just like Cronulla's entry into the NSWRL did. If anything Penrith's unprecedented level of success since the NRL and even salary cap era began is a symptom, not the disease. But the NRL will need to start addressing said disease or it will significantly impact the health of the sport and competition in the mid-long term.

The NRL's current position is actually very similar to RU's in the late 90s and early 00s. They're on the edge of greatness, but they'll crash and burn if they get complacent and allow their current success to distract from addressing the underlying issues that they face. Hopefully they don't f**k it up like the ARU did.

Disease is a well managed club that invests in junior in a league of clubs that don’t

can’t blame them most of the nrl clubs are a rabble

I hope Penrith win 11 in a row if that’s what it takes for clubs to copy Penrith

we don’t want clubs like the roosters

By that dumb metric, the Cowboys and Warriors should be both on their 10th premiership by now, fmd, you dont think it has anything to do with the pathways and structures put in place since Gus revamped the joint... sorry i forgot, you dont rate Gus, he wouldn't know how to run a football club..
And ALL PLAYERS ARE SCUM AND ONLY WANT THE MAXIMUM they can get regardless of where or who they are playing for

Love how AFL Red puts all Pacific Islanders as living in cheap housing.

Typical stereotyping AFL fan.
Of course i forgot the Pacific Islanders who live in Perth are living in Mansions, they dont need to play league or Union, they just pine for an NRL team one day,.... sorry pine is an understatement, EXPECT to be handed one is more like it... how entitled they are, gonna hope that western pasifika Porcupines bid gets up, atleast then Penrith will have some proper opposition

It’s an nrl clubs job to scout and develop the cream of the crop and have them debut in nrl. It’s not their jobs to get as many kids playing RL as possible. that’s the job of the arlc, the state bodies and the league clubs if there is one.
Where that cream of the crop was born is largely irrelevant.

Didn't you recently post some rubbish about 'WA born Kalyn Ponga'?
