Meh, i think NZ actually have a decent young side and a reasonable future ahead of them, bar opening batsmen. Seriously NZ test openers at this stage have been pretty woeful, if they can find some openers then

Flynn
Taylor
Ryder
Oram
McCullem

is a good 3-7, and if Elliot can force his way into that side all the better for them. But their opening batsmen who have played thus far a pretty woeful.

Yep - that's right, and the likes of Williamson, Anderson, Boult, Southee etc are terrific young talents

Openers are a joke, so if nyou're done with Rogers and Jaques, we'd happily take them

Guptill/Fulton look alright dont they?

And to whoever said it, Brad Hodge should be in the Australian Side. Hes probably the 3rd best bat in the country never mind not in the top 6.

He didn't say dump him, he just laughed...

Look at things fromn the outside (of Australia) - endlessly we get these stories of players who would be international greats if they weren't Australian etc etc... or are supoerbly talented and wiull dominate once they get their opportunity

In recent times - Hodge, Hussey, D, Krezja, Hilfenhaus, Bollinger, McGain, Rogers, Jaques, White, North, Ferguson, Haddin, etc etc etc with Hughes being the latest...

Then we see them in international cricket and they range from crap to merely decent cricketers... no doubt Hughes is a talent, but you have to admit that was a comical debut after all the beat up around him

I'd venture that Jaques and Haddin are more than merely "decent cricketers" whilst Bollinger, North, Ferguson, Hilfenhaus and Hughes have played anywhere from 1 test to a handful of one dayers...fairly harsh to consign them to mediocrity , especially Ferguson and North who have looked comfortable from day 1

I'm not sure on Southee just yet

he had a good first up session in the first test match and was ordinary for the rest of the series

at least he did develop a bit more variation in his bowling but at 18 or what ever he is, he has plenty of time to develop

No change to the overnight score after 1 over's play.

Nice to hear ABC Radio coming in loud and clear after they had to resort to the blower last night.
