Nice innings by Hoppa - earnt that one, and really might cash in now - we need him and the Don gone to stay in the game

Is obvious that Williamson aside, one thing our batsmen don't do well enough is really maximise the runs when in form - too many mental lapses... even though your top 6 isn't the best (IMO) they all know how to milk their form/opportunities

Latham looks a good player but his biggest problems seems to be to be converting starts, he looked good every innings in Australia.

Latham is good. He'll learn. Also Watling looks a lot like Nevill to me. Much more competent with the bat than some of the guys batting above him and might benefit from being higher in the order

NZ radio commentators whinging about the not out call lol.

What is there to whinge about? It was sliding down leg clearly.. The first innings Aus review where it was just pitching outside of the line presents more of a case for something to whinge about

Well I'm calling it now.

Disapointed with this summer for NZC.

Boult has gone a million miles backwards and without swing is a just another plodder - he will slip down all the ratings.

Latham - still hasn't kicked on against top level attacks. Yeah a 100 against Steyn in odi but still too slow overall in that format for my liking.

Guptill- the same as Latham in tests

Nicholls - ugh. Good pull and cut shot but horrible chasing wide outside off when driving. Just cut it or leave it.

Doug B has improved, but it was hard to get worse. Nowhere near world class or even described as quality.

Santner's development is the only player who got better this season displaying signs of real quality to be developed. More opportunities for Munro would be nice.

Time to look at Ben Smith or Jeet Raval in the next year or so with 14 tests. Ben Smith looks elegant, but all I care for is runs.

meh, all we have to whinge about is dropping Smith, and the no ball call on the Don, which was ridiculous tbh, but nothing that could be done

Latham's fine - Guptill should only have this series and then move on imo (same with Ronchi and Elliott) - problem is rather than go to Smith they'll probably bring back Rutherford

Boult's back problem has been huge - we need to be patient with someone of that quality

the review? Was hitting, outside of stumps - umpire's call, fair enough not out, and if he'd given it, fair enough out - nothing to complain about, but we need some luck atm, perhaps that's their issue?

Probably mate you are due for some, but Anderson did have some luck with a couple of pull shots and Craig did have one that smashed into the stumps that didn't dislodge the bails. You make your own luck, dropped catches don't help when you only hit 183 on a pretty good deck.

If Boult can't swing it, there could Henry with a new ball for nip.

Without swing, Boult is just another trundler.

He could be in FC trying to find his swing.

Is Boult suffering from injury right now??? Or still just struggling to get himself 100% right???

As someone who suffered stress fractures as a young cricketer i know my back was never quite the same and my bowling suffered greatly.

As someone who suffered stress fractures as a young cricketer i know my back was never quite the same and my bowling suffered greatly.

He was clearly still feeling the effects of injury and rehabilitation when playing in Australia at the start of summer.

He's fit now. Or at least bowling at full pace without any obvious signs of grimace or discomfort. He had stress fractures as a youngster before national representation. So they're not new to him.

But his ball release is now stuffed since comming back from injury. The ball is not being released like it used to be. The seam is angled in, possibly too much as an observation, when trying to get the inswinger (though the seam holds its line, the cherry aint swinging), and the seam is wobbly when going for his stock ball outswinger, and not swinging out. (These descriptions are for Left Hand Batsmen facing him).

He used to be textbook. There used to be a lovely counter rotation on the ball as it "floated" down the pitch with the seam holding its given line at between 130 and 140 km per hour and then went in the intended direction. Sometimes before it pitched. Sometimes after. He was dangerous and could carve out the best batsmen in the world.

For now, he is a just a seamer, with limited very seam movement.
