Just coming back to this- our top order batting was generally feeble, but this was a bowling pitch. Australia, Green aside, weren’t all that much better.

The difference between the two sides, Green aside, was with the ball- specifically, the way that we bowled on the morning of day 2 and fielded generally.

Australia, as you’d expect, didn’t make the same mistakes

Quirky little stat from this test: 13 different bowlers took at least 1 wicket. This is the joint highest and has only happened 4 times before (the last in 1966).

NZ were gutless, their tactics on the morning of day 2 were timid and cost them the game. Has Boult given up test cricket??? Besides Henry the bowling looks pretty average Rourke looks promising but raw. NZ play Aus like Parra play against the Storm in finals matches.

Day two was an abomination

Boult doing the T20 circuit, so likely not in the shape needed for tests, but I'd pick him regardless, if O'Rourke can't play the next test, you'll be astound at the shithouse 30+ journeymen they'll roll out (mind you, you've just seen Kuggeleijn, so perhaps not)

I still can't believe that flog played ahead of Wagner (and no mistake Wagner is on his last legs) and I see Ajaz Patel just rolled out a 7 for in domestic cricket - he's a very good spin bowler

Just horrible, choke, bring back Hadlee, even with shyte backups would take 7 for and get a 50.

NZ problem they have a couple world class, just not 11 like us.

ha, but Auckland is the only place with a decent population

Hoping the great man, Sir Richard, makes an appearance in Christchurch this week - he remains one of the greatest quicks to ever play the game, and mid-late career Hadlee was (IMO) the best pace bowler I've ever seen

You're right ,, was a poor showing from our elderly team..
Could be a couple of surprise ring ins for the 2nd Test...which I think we'll win,

Anyways,,,those bloody Sharks on Friday nite...should set the tone for the weekend,,
