Wow. Is Ish Sodhi deadset the best spinner in New Zealand? He's a pie thrower. I can only imagine pie throwers of previous generations like Stuart Duff and Mark Jefferson wishing they were bowling in this era, they'd have 15 test caps.

Btw would persist with team.......for the series.

Persisting with the team would be a terrible decision IMO - regardless of the outcome. We only have three batsmen as it is with the two walking wickets at the top.

Most semi-educated fans knew selecting Fulton and Rutherford was a terrible move before this game though - so I do expect them to be there for a while yet.

So we avoided being one of the teams to enforce the follow on and lose. How many teams have led by 300 on the first innings and lost though?

So many NZ pitches flatten out on the 4th and 5th day. I just cannot understand the bat again decision at all - it defies common sense.

We still have a fragile batting lineup, two poor opening batsman and not sure why they keep saying Ish Sodhi is tbe best spinner in the country... couldn't get a crack with Auckland, has a horrible 1st class record etc... Much rather have Bruce Martin to be honest...

Still time here, but it's on Southee, Boult and Wagner... worry is they won't likely bring in a spinner or opening bat for the next test

Agree we're still a chance here, but relying on India to stuff it up. Not the position you should be in after leading by 300.

Sodhi is a strange one. Averaged 50 against the might of Bangladesh and the Windies - thought he could have been given this series off too.

Wagner showing his value, the wicket we needed before the new ball and tea. Keep the new ball until after tea and let Southee and Boult at two relatively new batsman, relatively fresh.
