He does look a good prospect, easily looks NZ's best player from a technical point of view.

He has plenty of time to do well against us and the Saffa's away. Smiffy had done well the last 12 months considering he was at best a batting all rounder. Bit hard to make a comparison.

Was it Smith's ODI high score 46* off 47 deliveries that has you all convinced? (v England 2011). Or his 2nd best ODI score of 41? (v England 2010)

Yeah Williamson with an average of like 18, 20 and 10 batting in Australia, England and south Africa respectively. So he can't play pace, bounce or swing.

You new Zealanders.

Er.... You DO realise that the decks in NZ are tougher to bat on than most countries... And he doesn't get to face NZs usual popgun bowling attack here.

The real comparison was Hughes vs Williamson, both about the same age, both touted as the next big thing at the top of the order for their countries, both debuted with 100's (I think). I look forward to seeing Hughes get another few opportunities to edge to gully.

and for what logical reason would you bring up his ODI scores ?

Did score an amazing match-saving century v South Africa in Wellington. Philander, Morkel and Steyn gave his a very thorough examination that day.

Again, v South Africa last year, the whole team failed.

What's up with the comparison with Steve Smith??

Ones a batting all rounder who bats lower down... The other is a number 3.... Who bowls a tiny bit.

Searching for some sort of logical reason that you'd be so convinced that Smith is a better cricketer than Williamson

I brought it up.

I seemed to remember the two being compared a few years ago. Apparently, the comparison was between Williamson and Hughes though

Yep, his best innings so far. He got pummelled but saved the test for us.

Smith is a number #6 who I feel will have a very inconsistent career, being dropped and recalled plenty.

Williamson gone for 113.

Top innings.

Hope McCullum can go on to score a big one

Williamson caught down the leg side :(. Probably the only way they were gonna get him. Hate those.

Why so defensive??? I think he is a very good young player it does make me laugh how easy TT can upset some of you blokes by saying a few remarks about your players. Look at Slow Eddie these days he used to add plenty on here now he is a downright troll.

Williamson out unlucky strangled down the leg side.

Not sure if Anderson is the man for this situation. I would have been happier to see Waitling walk out.
